Correct me if I'm wrong, I think I read somewhere that you had to have 4g hardware, that simply enabling 4g in the software wasn't enough. Is that true? And if that's the case, does reverb have the hardware? That would be awesome!
 
I live 2.3 downloaded it today without noticing that you updated it again :( good thing 4g still doesn't work I guess because if it did in would be mad mi didn't check for the newest CD but good and barley and lag or bugs thank you

While the CPU doesn't have to be 4G capable to have WiMax, I believe that there needs to be an additional chip inside our phone in order for it to detect 4G. As to why 4G is in the software in the first place, that's completely Samsung's fault for leaving it there. I believe that NFC & FM Radio are also in the software but they're not used because the Reverb doesn't have the capabilities to support them either.

Its very possible our phone does have a 4G chip and its just not enabled in software. You are correct though, the hardware has to be there for it to actually work.

I have seen this functionality in the kernel config also (i forgot to enable it on the las build but I'm going to enable it on the next test build to see if the hardware might be there) but really if this phone had 4G why not use it?

Still its possible. I've seen stranger things disabled in hardware just to sell at a lower price..

OK; First things first...Many, MANY thanks to EVERYONE WHO toiled so hard to bring this creation to life. Now that most the things that I've been waiting for in a rom are finally here (reliability, o/c, etc.), I've downloaded v2.4. Superboy...in the original post, there are caveats for transitions from version to version. I'm still rooted w/CWM 6.0.2.3 (I believe that's test 8, right?) and running dead stock...never even TRIED anything else. So....are there any differences to my situation vs. someone who has already flashed previous versions? Or do you guys think I'm good to go with just dalvik wipe & factory restore? And is my CWM ver. cool?

Edit: Yes, I do have a back-up for the orig.thru this CWM ver.

animania...wouldn't there also be a conflict within the "home tower" the phone is assigned to? Some years back, I was with Boost, and although I can't remember the exact circumstance (I think I switched phones), I do seem to remember a service tech tell me that the tower needed to recognize my phone before I could start using my data plan. Not sure if that would be the case here; but then, I'm not a programmer or a developer either!

Well you should be all set to flash with factory data wipe and dalvik-cache wipe then
 
After using the rom for a few hours, I found that if I ever start the music player and then hit pause, the music player will randomly start playing again? I had to manually stop the application to get it to quit doing this. What could cause this issue?
 
want to try the rom out was wondering if can just install latest 2.4 version or is it incremental 1.0 to 2.4. hope i didnt make anyone face palm their self :p
 
SB, a little off-topic, but earlier in this thread; #21 t.b.e.; you mentioned a "semi-working "touch recovery"...did you ever post that somewhere, or is that a no-go?
