Root [ROM][WIP] Party Time JellyBeanSandwich

Well, I've flashed the stock rec. 3 different times, and each time when I try to re-flash v2.4, I get the same result; NOTHING! Installs, re-boots, white logo yellow triangle, BLACK screen for 20 min. +...:mad::banghead:

Think I'm done for a while....gotta cool off!

Alright so I know kind of what I'm doing but have no idea that I am?

I used to have an Optimus V and flashed with a custom CM ROM a while back, but when Hurricane Sandy hit and I had no service from Virgin Mobile, they couldn't reconnect my phone since it had a different OS on it. Kinda scared me from installing different OS's but I guess I never really knew how to leave a backup of the stock for emergency cases like that.

So with this, is it CyanogenMod, or entirely you? Since I have somewhat knowlege of flashing, I kind of understand what to do but not really, I guess I was lucky!

In the settings, is it 4.0 or 4.1/4.2? I'm confused by the name!

Are there different screenshot methods (standard ICS Volume Up/Power) instead of the Reverb's Home/Power?

So am I right when I understand that I can switch between Touchwiz and Stock?

And has anyone actually tried the 4G and is it noticeable? Sprint's WiMax coverage sucks, can't get it for a couple dozen miles >__<

Sorry for the questions, just wondering if it's worth the re-plunge!

(Is it stable enough for daily driver, most importantly!)

It's worth it

SB, I'm beginning to think your rom dosen't like me!! :frown: This time I waited almost an hour; same results...flashes, logo, triangle, boot-loop. I've flashed the stock recovery numerous times, un-rooted & re-rooted; I'm at a loss, man! You know, back when you got Google Now to flash, I never put it on mine. Any chance that has anything to do with it? (I'm grasping at straws, here)...What about the fact that I have no partitions on my ext. sd card?

Edit: OK, SB; you're off the hook. Because I decided to try Martinez's Super Helado rom, and It's doing the EXACT same thing...so something else is going on inside my phone.

I've installed PartyTime2.4 and the only problem I'm seeing is that the Face Unlock feature isn't working. When I try to "Set up Face Unlock", it tells me "Face Unlock couldn't start". Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem or what I could try to possibly fix it?

UPDATE:
I reflashed the ICS/CM9 version of gapps from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Gapps and it fixed the problem.
:-)

Dude, I've got NO clue HOW it happened, BUT IT'S WORKIN'!!! 2.4 P.T. JBS be flowin' freely thru my Reverb mobo!! :D

See my (today's dated) post in Soft Brick and CWM recovery support thread... that's what triggered it, I think. 'Lost' my original image, gained a new rom....not too bad of a trade-off...

OK...2 observations so far;

1) Don't try & use jrummy apps inc. Boot Animations app from Google Play to try and change the animated boot-screen...I've tried a couple, and even though it'll install them, and they'll load on boot, and it'll just loop. Fix for this was simply reboot into rec., and re-flash the rom...done.

2) When I booted this rom for me 1st time, it carried 2 battery indicators in the status bar; 1 on each side...1 ICS/JB blue (right side), and 1 'GB' looking green (left side). When I charged last night, the green one went 100%, while the blue one went only 50%. And that one (blue),was evidently the true read for the batt. status, because about an hour ago, I got the audible alarm, and the indicator went red...(this happened while I was re-flashing the rom from another animated Bootscreen loop). After that reboot, the green battery icon was gone, and the blue is now indicating a charge status.

SB, also wondering about app2sd type apps...do they work & which one is best?
Peace;
Sox

this is a sick rom and i love it. the only two things i can dare say anything about is that im not a big fan of the miniature google logo on the search bar of the ics version of the reverb rom and want to know how to switch it back to the microphone.
also not a big fan of the transparent notification tray and if theres a way to change it back or to solid color or to to the original samsung tray thatd be awesome.
great work from everyone that participated

For the miniture Google icon instead of the microphone, that is bug caused by Google Now. SB probably won't fix that.
For the transparency, there should be a way to untheme the notifications.

Help

I flashed CWM 6.0.2.3, got the zip installed message, tried to reboot and got a hard brick! Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can you still get into recovery? If so reflash and/or restore your backup. Did you make a backup?

Got a backup but no way to get to it-----just a black screen!

Edit: Pulled the battery, put back in, pressed both volume keys and power----nothing.

So you can't access recovery and you are unable to boot into ROM? Did you flash both one after the other? Or did you only flash recovery?

Sorry for the question but did you flash the right one? Did you use one of the test versions for the Reverb or did you accidentally use a version for a different phone? You may need to use odin or adb to fix. I don't have much experience with either though. :(

After installing this ROM, the "Lock" screen rotates. It doesn't seem like there is an option to keep the lock screen from rotating. Anybody know how or where to change this? Thanks!

The Auto-rotate Screen on the notification bar is certainly checked... but there was an option on the stock rom where we can choose the "Lock Screen Only" not to rotate when the phone is flipped. So, what I am asking is for an option to only have the "lock screen not rotate", and the rest of the phone operations to rotate (when I physically want it to).

I do believe this might have been only on the stock, because I have looked everyone for this option on this ROM and super-helado and I can't seem to find it.

But of course, I am probably totally wrong, and thus, I bring it to the forum.

Thanks for the help.

what build.prop did you change it to and is it still changed on the latest version of this rom and is it now capable of playing better apps now

superboy777,

After using this ROM for almost a month now, I want to thank you for the great job you did! It is very stable and I actually look forward to not only using my phone for what I need, but I even find myself "wasting time" because it is so "cool."

A Couple of questions for you:

1) Is there anyway I can change the "setting icons" to color (as well as the "shutdown and restart menu")?

2) Also, are you familiar with disabling the "rotate screen" only for the "lock screen" but having it active all the time besides that screen?

Thanks!

Again, great job with the ROM!

It's superboy4444...but whatever, anyways your welcome...but I would have to revise the framework-res.apk to get the on-screen rotate disabled while the rest is enabled...as for the color, switch to the stock systemui.apk
