Can anyone tell me why I keep getting reboots when playing games?
The only stable speed for me is 600Mhz anything above will make my phone reboot when playing Fruit Ninja or any other game for more than 10-30 minutes.

I have already tried flashing twice.

i had to reformat/partition my SD card then flash the rom when i had that issue.

For what it's worth I'll post and hope I get a reply.

I would like to switch to reppard's CM7. I am am on sense ROM now and my phone has been randomly reebooting since I installed the r.O.C.K kernel before installing sense rom. I am a noob to the forum and the installation of repards CM7 is not clear to me. Something is mentioned about a gapp file or something. When/how do I install that? Also there was some talk about a2sd. I really dont know what this is and why it is important. I was able to follow joinedy's installation completely and I partitioned the sd card. What do I need to do to switch to reppard's cm7? Would I wipe wipe all user data? What about cache and Dalvic cache? Is this the easiest CM7 for a noob?

Thanks in advance

1. Gapps stands for (google apps), the reason why you need to install it, is because it contains the most 'up to date' google apps. You want to install this after you flash the ROM. You would need to go to recovery and flash the file.

2. A2SD is short for (App to SD card) it lets you transfer apps from your phone to your SD card. If you have a lot of apps and use your SD card to store your apps then you would want this.

3. To switch to Reppard's ROM, you would need to:
WIPE "/data"
WIPE "/cache"
WIPE "/dalvic cache"
It is optional if you want to wipe All user data.
Then you would flash Reppard's ROM, that is downloadable on the front page of this thread.

4. All ROMS are different, whether it's simple or not, depends on the user. Cyanogenmod, (which is the ROM Reppard is working on) was developed by third-party devs that wanted to have the most 'up to date' version of android. In reality ALL ROMS are the same just have a few different features than others.

I flashed the ROM and it is nice. My compliments to the chefs. The problem is that my USB sign is not showing up when plug in the phone. I'm using the same cord I used to download the update to the phone. It was working fine. I can't transfer files. I flashed twice so far and re-installed the USB drivers. I tried a different USB cord. I had a similar situation the other day but it was the cable that was not good enough for the phone. The cables I'm using now came with the optimus m and my samsung admire. I searched the forum and found no answers.

Thank You

On your phone, make sure your USB debugging and USB debugging notify boxes are checked. look in settings\ applications\ development. Just a thought.

I forgot to mention that those were already checked. I flashed a few times and no difference. I can't transfer files but it does charge off the PC. The other issue is that the phone will not power off with the charger connected. It just reboots. So I can't shut the phone down and get a quick charge if I need to. I was having an issue before with random reboots and so far that has not happened. But I just flashed back over to sense rom and the USB sign came up. I was also able to power off and charge. I may just have to stick with sense rom and put the speed at 600 (or less) to avoid reboots. If that does not work I may have to settle with the stock ROM for now.

Thanks

I had problem transferring too,my phon kept freezing up every time I turned on USB, so I just went into recovery and toggled USB from there.

For the random reboots go into recovery and repair the ext I heard that works

You should be able to overclock at least to 729 on Sense rom. I got up to 768 stable on Sense rom, i use Setcpu app to overclock. As far as CM7, maybe you got a bad download of the Rom, I've read that it happens sometimes. try downloading a fresh one again. Make sure your sdcard is at least ext 3 partition ( mine is ext 4 with the plague kernel ) make sure you back up your sdcard to your cpu, so when you do your wipe and partition you can put it back on your phone. Flash your CM7 rom and goodies, then Flash dtapps2sd-2.7.5.2-1-signed. Once you get everything up and running get a app called A2SDGUI and set it up. I know you probably know all this, but maybe it can help someone out. :) And some Roms won't let you charge your phone while its off.

when i flashed sense rom i partitioned the hard drive and changed the ext 2 to ext 3. I went to recovery but I don't see exactly how to toggle USB. I went there and tried to change it but sure I did it right.

update:

I'm going to stick with sense rom for now this is giving me a head ache. What can I do about random reboots. Ever since i installed the r.o.c.k. kernel it's been happening. not often but it does. I recall bringing the cpu speed down to 600 and remember it rebooting.

Grab lte on. From the market

"Lte on off" from the android market much faster than accesing the secret menu's anyways :)

Just as a word of caution here; when I first got the 3020 prl and 3G, I tried using the lte on/off app. When I would set it to evdo only, I had problems. I couldn't receive phone calls or texts. I could make a call, and even send a text (although it took forever to send it). If I went back into the app and set it for the evdo prl auto (or what ever it was called) then I could get and receive voice and text. 'Course, now I have prl 3023. I tried the app again, with the same results. Maybe it's just something with my phone, maybe something with the network here in the DFW area; I don't know, but the app really didn't do me any good.

How often are the reboots? Does any one thing always trigger it? Try putting it back to 600 again to make 100% for sure it still reboots then. Not all phones are equal some may not be able to handle any overclock and be 100% stable, my phone for example will not run anything higher than 728mhz at 748mhz it will reboot a couple times a day, and the camera can usually trigger it.

Yeah when I switch to EVDO then back to CDMA(PRL) the radio just turns off.. but a quick reboot fixes it for me everytime :)

it mostly happended when I ran google or metro navigator. After putting in an address and hitting navigate. it would navigate for a while the reboot in the middle of the directions leaving me lost. I can put it at 600 and run it for a while to see. Yes, I do remember the camera triggering it. I don't recall what I was running. It could have been youtube and I accidentally hit the camera button.

I didn't have to do a reboot. One other thing, if I selected the evdo only in a place that I was only getting 1x, I'd loose all service. When I put it back to the auto prl setting, I'd get service back. I installed the app.

Hey thank you reppard and everyone else with what they contributed to this rom and great community.

I haven't been able to find anything in a search of google or the forums and I'll be damned if I read through nearly 700 posts in this thread :D, but I have an issue with ADW (i think) and with a major lag on rotating the phone. I can't find an obvious setting that might speed it up. I've got a black wallpaper (not an image) and I've got it overclocked to 748mhz. I'd like to think that I've got this phone pretty well tuned, but I can't figure out this issue with rotating the screen.

Any ideas? Thank you.

get an app called autorotation control.. it worked for a few people.. some people have this issue.. some dont, but that app should fix the issue

Can I get a screenshot of how it looks lol. I don't like the fat service signal from my wife's huwaei cm7. Just wanna get a preview of how it'll look when I flash it.

So one other thing ever since I installed CM7 when my phone is on vibrate it doesn't. It only finally vibrates when it turns off due to my phone being dead. Any ideas?

For me i had to setbit with the app...in messaging press menu and check vibrate it will be on never change that and do the same with calls

Okay, I am going to attempt to have a nice, organized rom posting like the other devs on this site...

Developer: Blarf

Builder: reppard
Version: CM7.1-RC1-MS690-Reppard (09-03-2011)

Thank you too the following:
Blarf for getting this thing rolling. He is the master mind behind IHO so seek him out. Donate to him. And hopefully learn something! - I learned a lot by building this thing from source as opposed to my last effort at Cmod which was mostly just hacking a port.
Joneidy & Somedood81- Both of which sacrificed computers for this build!
BobZhome – for the liboemcamera.so from his build and his help with the scaling frequencies on the new kernel.
PlayfulGod - for help with the kernel.
Changelog

09-20-2011:
* Forked and synced up with PG's android thunderc kernel repo.
* Added smartassv2 and tweaked the config.
* Thank you to Playfulgod as this fixes any and all graphical issues.

09-15-2011:
* Added new drivers provided by Bobz to the kernel
* This fixes Screen Animations
* A2sd support added
* Wipe cache/Dalvik-cache and flash

Don't freak out if you get a black screen for a moment, the drivers have a funky effect on the red LG logo. I will revert the drivers back and try out PG's fix on the next build. Thank you to Bobz and PlayfulGod.

09-06-2011:

* Updated r.O.C.K kernel to v1.0 - This includes a new governor "smartassV2" by Erasmux. Seek him on github. Ported and tweaked by yours truly.
* Removed FM app per BobZ's suggestion as our phone does not have the hardware to use it.
* Removed languages other than engrish.
* Recoded my CMParts hack as it is not needed any longer.
* Minor cosmetic changes in menus.

09-02-2011:

    • Fixed MMS - works from a fresh flash, no patch required
    • Added r.O.C.K - v0.3 kernel
    • Fixed CPU settings in the Cyanogen Settings > Performance screen

    • Banner fixed – no more “Roaming Indicator Off”, now says “Cyanogen v7.1”(if you wanted it to say MetroPCS or frequently forget what carrier you are on, Metro has taken the liberty of plastering their logo right under the ear piece.)
    • Disabled the screen animations as default setting

Thanks again blarf!
