Rom zero 1.0

Sooo, you cant just trick the software into thinking your running a near 800 mhz non ARM6 cpu? Just like we tricked it to overclock it beyond 600?

It makes me mad that Metro got an Optimus version with lower specs and features than anyone eles. Why didn't Metro get the same specs Virgin Mobile? Everyone else (S, T, and now V) has 512 RAM and wi-radio.

The Optimus V is identical to the Sprint version, save for the omission of built-in mobile hotspot support with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera with video recorder, 512MB RAM/256MB ROM underpinned by the Qualcomm MSM7627 at 600MHz, Wi-Fi radio, GPS and microSDHC card slot.

The Optimus M only has 434MB RAM and no wi-fi radio. :mad: One of my wishes was to get radio functionality...

Sell your optimus m use the money to buy an optimus v and first or second month of payment on virgin save 300 bucks a year and have 3g service and good phone

wait a second. They have text, data, email & web for only $25 a month? I don't even care about talk time cuz I can just set the phone up like I got my Optimus M now with Google Voice and Sipdroid.

The **** am I paying $53 for? :confused:

You are correct. :o I now remember the S didn't have FM radio either, but people were working on it... sorry brain fried from work last week.

But still the Optimus V and the Optimus S have more RAM -- 512MB vs our 434MB. Still mad. :mad:

I actually had discussions with the guy that runs that site when I first got my phone. It's funny we have reversed positions.

I was still researching the Optimus but I was determined to get one. I was surprised the amount of RAM was not mentioned on PhoneArena. (Yes it is now, but back in November it was not.)

Initially he refused to post 512 RAM, but as the S and T Optimi had 512 RAM I assumed the M did too. He wrote me and said he could not find official specs anywhere discussing RAM, so he refused to assume the M had 512MB RAM. Specs change, according to what the carrier orders, you know? :rolleyes:

Once I started researching that specific topic, I found his skepticism was well-founded. NOWHERE on LG's site or Metro's site was RAM mentioned. Sure 600 MHz CPU, and everything else under the sun -- but no mention of RAM amount whatsover. Why?

So, I mentioned this to some people on another forum and they downloaded system apps to check their OPTIMUS M. 424MB RAM. 424MB RAM.

I said 434 but in going back, it must have been 424. :o

Go download this Android System Info app:
Android System Info Electric Sheep

In System tab, under "Memory", in Total RAM, it says 424MB.

So, I forwarded that information to the guy at PhoneArena and he thanked me. And for awhile he had that amount of RAM listed for the Optimus.

Now I find it funny that it says 512MB RAM.

The only explanation I can think of is that total RAM 424MB is RAM available for applications, that 88MGB is reserved for the OS or something? But if so, that is not how Windows displays total RAM. Total RAM should be total RAM.
 
May be reserved for graphics. For instance my laptop has 1GB of RAM in it but reserves 256MB for integrated graphics. Therefore when I check the memory in Windows it reports that I only have 768MB available.

Yeah, but in that program and others, there's a "TOTAL" category and an "available" category. Under "total" it says 424MB RAM.


Go download this Android System Info app:

I want to know what it says for the Optimus S and the Optimus V?

And I don't have a job or the cash to get another phone.

Their 3G coverage in my area is off the charts. It'd be like heaven but I'd rarely use it cuz I barely leave the house cuz my car is fubar too.

Oh and as far as Google Voice and Sipdroid go, for some reason Sipdroid stopped functioning today and will not register with pbxes.org but worked fine for like a week straight. :confused:

Yeah there's been some but with work and my new phone everything has been slower than pouring cold molasses. Also I been trying to figure out what boot animation I wanna use. I been hearing about the metal spinning top from inception but don't have that clip and I saw a couple cool ones but I haven't found the right one.
 
Thanks for the update. I read that you got the V and thought maybe you were done with the M. Glad to hear it's still being worked on.
 
Im new to this rom stuff and adb and all that. I deleted my mms app and now i cant receive texts. Thats the only thing i think i deleted that i need. Can somebody help me with the flashing and everything or hook me up with the messaging apk file. Thanks guys

Just reflash the rom if your not sure
 
Yeah i dont know what you mean. Im trying the getitnowmarketing thing right now. I have been trying for the last 5 hours straight. Having a few problems.
 
And if anyone needs help and get walked through exactly how to flash to the rom just let me know. I can walk you through exactly how to do it. :) i just dont know how to do the new kernel and stuff yet.
 
Love the boot animation. Thank you for gettin rid of that metro pos boot. And everything else. Works great so far. Keep up the great work.
