Mr. Moderator, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this person has an evo 4g not an evo v 4g. You may want to send him 4g's way where he might bet better support from the devs

You sure?

The hboot is not for the evo 4g. I googled it and all I can find was it was for the evo v 4g.

They opened it to fastboot mode

Okay, before we go any further, we need to figure some stuff out. You said your device is the HTC Rider which is a Korean only gsm variant of the Evo 3d, without a 3d camera. Is this correct?

The evo v is the CDMA version of the evo 3d exclusively for virgin mobile network. Oddly enough your hboot displays 1.57.0000 which is the same number evo v uses.

Anyway, if you have a gsm device, I'm not sure it's safe to be following any guides in this section. The S-off tool flashes a CDMA hboot which could potentially permanently brick your phone if you indeed have a gsm phone.

What rom were you flashing when your phone Stopped working? Can you link us to it? I was wondering if you possibly flashed a CDMA rom.

Also you said windows doesn't recognize the phone. Check device manager, what does it say when the phone is plugged in?

brian is absolutely right,we should not be following any guides here,as the htc rider, aka htc evo 4g+ is indeed a gsm device HTC Evo 4G+ - Full phone specifications

if youve flashed cdma recoveries or roms, then that is your prollem. im not familiar enuff with the filesystem on the rider tso specluate if there has been permenent damage, best we can do at this point is run an ruu.

i have a couple rider ruus on my computer, ill start uploading the newest one,but some more info would be good to have. if you could perform the following and paste for us the output(Xing out your meid and esn):
first download and install these drivers: revolutionary drivers (mirror)

then,download this small file:
mini-adb.zip

-unzip it,and place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C drive(not inside a folder)

-open a cmd window(with win 7,click start bubble, type "command" or "cmd" in hte search box)

-now change to your mini-adb directory(assuming you didnt chagne the name). type in the black cmd window that opened on your PC:
cd c:\mini-adb

-pull the battery in your phone for a few seconds. hold volume down, then power. hold them both until you see the white/colored writing hboot screen

-select "fastboot" from the hboot menu with the vol rocker/power button

-in your cmd window type:
fastboot devices

it should output your phones serial number. if so youre good to go. if not, youre apparently having a driver issue. i usually recomend these drivers from Revolutionary: modified htc drivers download and install the drivers(you should just have to run that file). afterwards, unplug your phone, plug it back in. make sure its in fastboot. as soon as you get a result from "fastboot devices" your ready to procede to the next step.

-in your cmd window, type(or copy/paste,is much easier):
fastboot getvar all

-copy the info that outputs here. right click in your cmd window, click mark, highlight it all in white. hit enter. paste the info here. it will help us know which ruu for you to run. :)

if you allready have a working directory with fastboot and adb,you can use that. just cd to that directory, put the phone into fastboot(not hboot) and enter fastboot getvar all

Thanks for the getvar all. I would have asked for that earlier but you couldn't connect to the pc at that time.

You definitely don't have the Evo V 4g. Different model id and cid. Scotty said he has a couple of RUUs for the rider. With that info he can direct you to the correct one. After running the RUU, then we can try to help you find a rom. Not sure how much development happened for your device but hopefully there's something.

Do you have a link to the rom you tried? What is your overall goal?

from the looks of your last getvar all, youve allready found the "set main version low" zip :)

the ruu i have is a bit older than your current build, but it still contains hboot 1.57, so your new main version should let it flash with no prollem and fix you up with a working phone again :)

as brian said we will get you back to a working phone before we try and find a rom.

heres what you need to do:
1)download this ruu: Shipped ROMs
2)relock your bootloader:
fastboot oem lock
3)run the .exe ruu file with the phone in fastboot. just follow along the directions. if the phone is charging when powered off or in recovery, try and charge it till you get a green light prior to running the ruu. when the utility finishes, it will reboot you to an out of the box working phone.
4)let the phone OTA to your current build

if you have trouble getting the .exe file to work, dont panic they can be finicky. you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
the .exe utilities can be finicky,so if you have trouble getting it to run, you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
-start the utility
-check the "i understand" box to move on to the next screen
-hide the utility temporarily out of site
-search your C drive for "rom.zip". you will find it in a temporary location(it will be in a different spot each time you run the utility)
-open the folder location, and transfer rom.zip to a safe location on your PC.
-unhide and cancel the utility, youre done with it.
-rom.zip can be renamed to PxxxIMG and flashed in hboot, from a FAT32 sd card
you can rename rom.zip to "PG86IMG" and flash it from a FAT32 sd card,or you can flash it with fastboot and ruu mode in this manner:
if youre working with a booted, operational phone, you can flsh the file in the following manner:

-open a cmd window

-change to adb/fastboot directory
cd c:\foldername
(cd c:\mini-adb if youve used any of my guides :))

-place the zip file you want to flash into adb/fastboot directory

-enable usb debug, disable fastboot, plug in phone

-check for connectivity
adb devices (should return serial number)

-boot to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader

-check for connectivity again
fastboot devices

-flash the file
fastboot erase cache

fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)

fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)

*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish

-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot)

-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot

you can use this if you dont have an operational phone as well. you just need to manually put the phone in fastboot(select from hboot menu) then skip the "adb" commands and start with fastboot devices

that should get you sorted and up and running. at that point we can find you for a correct recovery and try and locate a rom. when i found the RUUs.i dug for quite a while, and only found a couple of rom links, wich at that time were broken(or id have downloaded them as well) so im not sure how much luck we will have, but we will search again :)

But i am not finding "PG86IMG" for my device.

Thanks for your help

But i am not finding "PG86IMG" for my device.

what do you mean?

if you mean you cannot find it,where/why are you looking? all you need to do is click the link i gave you above, then run that utility.

if you mean your device wont find PG86IMG,there are only 3 reasons:
1)sd card not FAT32
2)name not correct
3)PG86IMG is not on the root of the sd.

did you try either of the other 2 methods to install? installing from the sd card is only 1 way to skin the cat. you can run the utility,or flash PG86IMG from fastboot/ruu mode, both methods are described above.

on your phone? do you mean the ruu ran successfully and your phone is now booting?

or do you mean you are unable to download the ruu?

yes i have installed RUU and now phone is booting.
all are ok there is two problems still exists:
1. wi-fi not turning on and
2. part of the phones key not working in QWERTY
Keyboard mode (o,u, 7,9)

Thanks for your help.
