You should be able to unlock the bootloader using adb oem-unlock. This will do a factory reset on the phone as well as unlocking the bootloader. We don't need to unlock the bootloader because we can get TWRP out there through easier means, and there are no ROMS for this device, other than factory ones to run at this point.
Have you tried installing xposed and does it work with that final zip

No, I have no need for the Xposed Framework on this phone. ZTE has done a bang-up job already. I have rooted it for tethering and ad-blocker reasons, otherwise stock works fine for me.

Also masterchief87 has tried to boot this phone into bootloader and he said it just does a normal boot so he is not sure about using the adb

What add block do you use?

MoaAB (Mother of all adblockers). Big thread on XDA. Uses only the hosts file with no additional software overhead. Only drawback is that you have to back it out (easy scripts all use TWRP, etc) if you want to use Hulu.

He is right, but it has to have a bootloader of some sort. Maybe adb from a terminal window?

Yep, adb works in a terminal emulator. Just be sure to enter "su" as the first command so you are root. I am not going to try the oem-unlock on mine, as I don't want to factory reset :).

Maybe somebody will try this and let us know and what would be the command to do it

Actually it's FastBoot OEM-Unlock, not ADB...

I've wiped everything out about 17 different ways in any effort to install Xposed. Nothing works. Does anyone have any other ideas??

Yup, of course.

I wonder if I need to get some other partition copied over. I just re-installed TWRP and will try that later perhaps.

Very very frustrated!!

This worked great for me, I did a dirty flash over stock rooted KitKat (after a nandroid backup) and just wiped cache and davlik. After I let it settle for 10 minutes or so, everything works great. Thanks!
Well if you experience any issues you'll need to do a factory reset. I've never heard of being able to dirty flash a lollipop ROM over KitKat but if it worked that's great. I'm glad its working for you.

I've only ever heard of using the OEM unlock command with fastboot. The benefit of unlocking the bootloader, if it supported fastboot would be that it would allow people who have already taken the official lollipop update to install twrp manually via fastboot and obtain root again. Unfortunately though, it looks as if zte was just too lazy to remove this option from the developer options and it doesn't really do anything. Because of this, people who have already taken the official lollipop update before I made it twrp friendly and pre-rooted will have to wait for a new root method that may never come. Also, since the official update modifies the bootloader, I think it actually locks it down completely so that you can't ever get permanent root.

I know how it feels I was like that when it was on kitkat I couldn't turnbof the phone because ei would loose xposed or it would go off even when the phone was on and it I tried to flash it it would make my phone bootloop

I took down the first and second test zips when I uploaded the one that is pre-rooted with the modem update built in. Also, There is no difference between flashing the first version(unrooted) with SuperSU and the modem update zip, or the second(pre-rooted) version with the modem update zip, or just flashing the newest version all by itself. Actually there is one difference. The newest version includes the new splash screen that came with the official lollipop update but that does not have any effect on installing xposed or anything else.

Yeah you can just dirty flash the new version and you'll just lose whatever changes you made to your system after installing the previous version.
