I just rooted my device recently but I dont know how to unlock some of its potential like "Setting CPU"
-How do I overclock/undervolt my CPU?
-Is there any feature that enables you to remove/disable the wakelocks on your device? - I put my device on sleep last night and after 7 hrs of sleep it drained more than 20% of my battery..
I checked my battery usage and it had "Android OS" at 80%
Congratulations on rooting your phone!
You've been rooted for less than 24 hours and now you want to break it?
Slow down old son. You remind me of a kid at Christmas.
First and foremost, you will need to install some app's to monitor your phone properly. See post
#2, under, "
I'm rooted... now what?" and, "
What app's should I install", here:-
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...t/482994-rooting-galaxy-s2-dummies-guide.html
It lists a number of app's that we modders use to get the best from our phones as well as things such as installing custom kernels and ROM's.
Bear in mind that you have only just installed your root and may be changing your kernel, modem and ROM and so you will need to decide on these things first before thinking about O/C'ing or U/V'ing, which is easier on a custom kernel, or worrying about wakelocks until you have spent time monitoring them and finding out what is causing them.
It might be your own operators, "bloatware", which, if you install a custom ROM, won't matter. It might be Samsung's own, "bloatware", which can be removed by following the, Bloatware removal" guide in the above post or may not be included in a custom ROM.
Now comes the boring bit for you... the reading and researching as you are not the first person to root a phone... honest!
There is no such thing as, "The Best Kernel" or, "The Best ROM" or, "The Best Modem", or, "The Best Over Clocking and Under Volting Settings". Each persons phone is different. Their usages. Their CPU's.
It's a case of trial and, more often than not, error, to achieve anywhere near a perfectly balanced phone that meets your needs.
My advise is not to rush at this like a bull in a china shop but rather, to use the Forum's Search feature and start reading about such things and how they will affect your phone. Will O/C'ing burn your CPU out quicker? Will U/V'ing give you S.O.D..
Sorry gek00, but there are no shortcuts... rooting is only the beginning!
