with out having to replace the whole ROM!Just a question, if I use SuperOneClick to root my Galaxy GTS-5660, will this also "upgrade" the OS? (The current OS on mine is Android 2.3.4, and I'd prefer it doesn't change the version to say, 2.3.6 or something)
Just want to be super sure... cheers![]()
Even and on Froyo it should work but who is using it anyway this days
ok after this tell me how to remove this bloody Telstra branding on my phone SAFELYwith out having to replace the whole ROM!

but i asked if its the same process as rooting the phone ?Is already explained I don't know what you need anymore. Read all the Thread you will find what you are looking for
http://androidforums.com/ace-all-th...al-gingerbread-root-unroot-2-3-3-2-3-7-a.html
and simply just update with this universal_gb_c.c.b.s.f_v2.zip
from maintenance mode?
then reboot and it will have removed the branding ?
You opened the Pandora Box
Thanks stoneyboy but unfortunately it did not successfully remove my telstra branding ..
and thats a legit feedback![]()

1. Download attached file and copy it to your sdcard
2. Run in maintenance mode (power + middle button)
3. Update from sdcard, select the file upd_1.zip.
4. After the update completed - reboot in normal mode.
Thats all - now you have rooted ace with android 2.3.3, and superuser in your apps.
I get to step 3 and it starts installing. After a short while I get:
--Install /sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:can't open /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(bad)
Installating aborted.
Any idea please?
