Root Impossible

I have been reading some tweets that Motorola has really worked hard to make the.droid bionic unrootable. Has anyone heard this? Do you think its possible to make a android phone without any loopholes that would allow a root?

Considering the Atrix has already been rooted I have little to no doubt that the talented devs will be able to root this phone. I am sure there will be some custom roms that based on blur with most of it removed.

I doubt there will be custom kernels on this phone and true aosp but for most that will not matter. I myself am not sure what I will do yet, but this phone is sure to be good and a great buy for many.

Saw that article, too. Apparently that team is already trying to crack the locked bootloader, too. I know they've been trying to crack the DX and D2 for the better part of a year now, but I'm hoping that someone, somewhere, will get it done. If they get it cracked on the Atrix and can use the same method to do the Bionic, it'll be well worth waiting a couple months later for the Bionic to come out.

Yeah the more the merrier working on it the better, but I am still concerned about it. The Milestone to my knowledge never had its bootloader cracked, and so far neither have the DX or D2, so I have my doubts. I have faith in the Devs but I believe they might need the keys leaked or whatever for the locked bootloader.

This is why I'm considering the Thunderbolt as my D1 upgrade. I've loved it, but I also have come to love the freedom to root AND add custom roms.

Been uding z4root on my X and galaxy tab. Im sure this talented dev will have z4root working on the bionic the day its released.

just so I have my facts straight:

root - allows custom apps and access to system files on the phone
custom ROMs - are layouts, overlays, UI, (such as Sense and Blur)
and kernals - are the pre-compiled OSs that add/remove system features

that right, at least on a high level?

if the Bionic is rooted will i be able to have a stock Android OS? or do we i need to wait/pray for a custom kernal/ROM...I don't want any of the 'fancy' stuff that Moto or HTC includes...it just muddies up the phone IMO.

The XOOM is a "Google Experience Device". You know what are the other 2 "Google Experience Device"'s? Nexus One and Nexus S. So basicly the Xoom is Google's dev kit for tablets. Which is why the bootloader is unlocked.
