Root Root info for Hboot 2.18.0001

reading it now. it is very similar to unlocking the evo 3d with the htc method. it is not a true root in that you will still have s-on, but the bootloader will be unlocked and watermarked so that sprint will know that the phone was rooted at some point. also you will need to either learn adb so that you can flash a custom kernel or use the android flahser to flash the kernel.

so please guys just because we can unlock the bootloader does not mean you should accept the ota. DO NOT ACCEPT IT. it will make rooting and flashing a very big pain. and also this will void you warranty by doing it this way and sprint will know you were rooted. there is no way around that unless the revolutionary team can find a new exploit.

still gonna read this further and see if there is any difference to the method.

thanx mikem0269!!!!!

Ok i read this and it seems quite complex but its better than nothing.

Please read post #2 By OCNBRZE before using this method.

I agree this is a work around method if you have already taken the update this should get you fixed up but this is way down at the bottom of the list in ways to get it done.

Ya better then nothing if you took the update but as stated best way is to not take the update.

DAMNIT!!!! Cracked my screen so unrooted. Took it in they wont replace it. When I unrooted it went to 2.18.0001.

I swear, three months ago I rooted a gingerbread using Revolution. I picked 2.16 and did it anyway and it worked. Now the Revolution software checks my version and stops me from trying it. "this is not compatible".

WTF Oh yea btw. Regular rom by the company really really sucks. I mean really. You dont realize how awesome these other Roms are till they're gone. wtf OTA can F off.

well the good news is that you can still rot your evo. but you will have to use the htc unlocking method then use captain throwback's guide to get s-off.
