just rooted my phone.(with some help) Now I am lost. I need a root for dummies section. I figured out how to get the rom but them had no phone. Please don't bash, I searched but didn't really find exactly what i was looking for. If anyone could tell me what files to download I would apprecieate it. I had no problems until the update now reboots and loss of 3g service. Just want something stable, gingerbread would be nice but not a necessity.

Any help is greatly apprecieated.

Welcome, your blazer and cigar are on the table ;)

You said you have the ROM already, do you not know how to flash (install) it? Or do you not know where to find the ROMs?

if you flashed something that needed new mr2 or mr2.5 radios, find them here: [RADIOS]MR2 and MR2.5 radios - xda-developers they will need to be flashed in hboot. directions to that(and lots of other things) here: http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/353591-how-some-root-terminology.html follow the directions for transfering files to your phone and flashing in hboot.

the best advice i could prolly give a new rooter/ROMer is DO NOT use rom manager to make backups/wipe/flash roms. rom manager is an app in a rom,and will not always be available for you to use. learn to boot into clockwork recovery and manully do things there and youll save yourself some potential panic/freak out moments in the future ;)

like worm said, tell us what rom youre trying to use... we can tell you if you need new radios or not. are you having other problems?

not exactly sure which rom I used, I created a backup prior and have already flashed back. can you recommend a good rom that has a radio? also, I did all of this using rom manager and rebooting in recovery. is this not the best way?

no,its not the best way. follow the directions in the "how to" post above to boot into clockwork recovery. id go ahead and make another backup to get the feel for it... use the directions to wipe and flash a new rom if you want to try something else.

rom manager is unreliable, and may cause you prollems. please learn to use clockwork recovery first...then if you want you can continue to use rom manager. if/when you have prollems, the only way to fix them will be via clockwork recovery.. rom manager will be useless. i personally do not use it at all.

as for a a rom, none come with a radio. id try any of the froyo roms based on the "MR1" firmware(rom should say somewhere 1.13.605.7 base) as they will use the radio you currently have.

hopefully some other folks will chime in reccomendations for froyo,im on my way out the door... das bamf, perfect storm 1.4, just to name a couple

check out the thunderbolt rom list for other ideas :)

Like was mentioned always flash, backup, restore in clockwork. ROM Manager is always the culprit when there's a bad download. Manually doing it will save you a lot of trouble.

Definitely get an app backup, application. Titanium Pro is probably the standard. You don't want to have to find all your apps and redownload again. Root Explorer, is a must in my book as well.

Id say at this point the best thing you could do, is; read, read, read.

I use ROM manager to boot in recovery usually but always download my roms via xda or the developer's website
