Root [Root] One Click Root for Samsung Admire (SCH-R720) :: Windows/Mac/Linux :: 9/12/2011

I'm attempting to root my Admire, but it keeps saying that it's read-only, and it just installs Superuser. I do everything according to the instructions, but it keeps saying that "su" doesn't exist and that it's read-only. Can anyone tell me what it is that I'm doing wrong?

Also, does it matter that I did the MetroPCS update before I attempted to root my phone? Was that a mistake? Thanks in advance.

So teach me the way of the Jedi here. I used the Root, it ended with "enjoy your rooted phone." I installed a 3rd party app manager, "Root Browser Lite". Each time I select a Metro App to remove, it won't work. WHat am I doing wrong? I need to be able to remove these useless features I will never dream of using. Please help me.

When you first used Root Browser did Superuser pop up and ask permission to allow? I used Titanium Backup to get rid of the Metro crapware. YMMV.
 
downloaded the root files but only have run not run.bat ran the run goes to a does menu says it might vibrate alot waited 20 mins nothing ever changed did i not wait long enough or is there something wrong

Try downloading superuser from the Play Store -reboot-and check for root.

Do you think this may be the issue? I got all the other errors like the package manager running, etc and mine was still rooted.
 
ok, i followed step by step, downloaded the drivers, the direct windows download, unpacked it, put the device in usb debug mode, usb file transfer mode, installed superuser, titanium back up, root checker,opened the admire folder on my comp, and ran "run" there was no "run.bat" file, it runs through restarts the phone a few times. program tells me im rooted, i check with root checker and nothing. just says root not found or some shit. also im running 2.3.4 any help would be appriciated thanks in advance XD

also looked through the comments and tried almost everything i saw, still cant figure it out
 
I had to run the run.bat three times before it would root my phone. I dont think usb file tramsfer mode should be on. Mine wasnt.
 
i ran it quite a few times, with and without the file transfer on, but i recall reading a previous comment saying they did it with it on, so i tried it, still nothing. hell i even did a complete restore to my phone and tried again a few more times...
 
A friend of mine had a phone that wouldn't root so I installed cwm with odin,,did a factory reset and tryed again and it worked. Hope this will help.
 
Is there anyone with One Click Root for the Metro PCS Samsung Admire with the 2.3.6 update? I know that we can flash a pre-rooted copy of the rom but I'm afraid I might brick my phone.

No other way that I can see-your safe to use that one.

Okay, All I'm trying to do is root my samsung vitality. I've been reading everything and all roads seem to lead to this original post. I downloaded the files for mac, unzipped, but don't see the run.sh file anywhere. I'm not sure what to do. I also tried my best to follow the instructions for mac here (HOW TO ROOT SAMSUNG ADMIRE!!!! + PROOF (check description) -CyXBeAtZ - YouTube), but to no avail. I can't seem to find any other way to root this phone.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Open a terminal
cd to the directory where the admire root files are. On my machine it was /home/username/admire-root
type the name of the script you want to run, in my case it was ./admire_root.sh
hit enter
I downloaded the original files from http://k0nane.info/rom/admire-root-nix
let me know how you get on.
