So....flash EL26 kernel and boot into recovery. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache. Flash modem (FL24?), flash ROM, flash gapps in that order. Reboot. Thanks in advance guys. Almost forgot but will I still have custom recovery after flashing ROM or will I need to flash a different kernel for that?

sorry for the cut paste on ur quote Krow.

ok so let me get this right to get JB I
1. Odin back to el26
2.boot recovery
3.wipe data/dalvik.
4. odin my rom of choice(pac in blk) and Gapps.
5. reboot.
Im rooted now on FI27, was on GB08 loved it but noticed i had no 3g, kinda need it as I'm on the edge of boost/sprints 4g zone. I watch Qbking77 vids to see how its done. also I tired mobile odin and cant figure out what folder I put the Rom zip into.

Thanks for all you've done.

You're a life saver for real.

I still have a difficult issue still happening. Im using pac in black and I still can't get mms to work. I Could Receive mms and sms, but cant send any out. I went to my apn and typed mm.myboostmobile.com and changed the 7 to a 1 like you said in your previous posts.

Is there a way to get my MSL? Do I need to type in my boost mobile web address anywhere? (xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.sprintpcs.com)

So this is what my screen looks like in settings and under apn......
Please tell me anything that looks wrong

Welcome to the S2 forums.

Everything you need is in the root guide. Follow it and you'll see its pretty simple. Download superuser and agat 0.6.8 zip from the root guide and put them on your phones sd card. You dont need to use the agat zip during rooting but it will come in handy one day so just leave it on your sd card.

You will need agat 0.6.8 tar on the computer to flash through odin.

The process is really simple. Basically the whole root guide is getting the drivers on the pc so odin can communicate with the phone. Then use odin to flash the kernel that has agats custom recovery in it. Then u boot into recovery and flash the superuser zip.

We need the custom recovery to flash su because stock recovery wont flash anything but official signed updates. Pretty simple;)

Dont hesitate to ask if you have any question during the root process. But remember to read because the guide tells u everything you need to know.

Thank you. I take it that the agat zip i save to my sd card is to flash back to stock? and the o.6.8 tar i put in the pda box of odin to get root then install the su zip from sd card in recovery mode to have root? also what do i do with kies after i install it on my laptop what im asking what do i need to set it up or something. and thanks again for ur help with this. i was thinking bout using framaroot. one more thing will i have to unroot to get the ota update for jelly bean when it comes out?

Yes all of that is correct.

Kies you dont really have to do anything with. Just install it. I used odin before kies even finished installing. If you want to use framaroot you can now that Mobile odin supports boost stock you Can use it to flash the agat tar after u Gain root

Sent you a p.m.

If u use the framaroot method that will give u root. But not a custom recovery so u couldn't flash anything. Roms, tweaks nothing. Mobile odin requires root access so after using framaroot you can flash agat 0.6.8 in it and youll have a custom recovery so u can flash roms and stuff just like u could if u followed the root guide

Just flashed PAC in black 4.2.2 and fixed mms, everything running good and looks like a great rom, was just wondering if I should stick with the kernel that comes with it or if there is something better? I got so use to using smartassv2 on setcpu :p

k can i not use the framaroot but use mobile odin and flash the o.6.8 tar and install the su zip in recovery mode to get root? will that still be the same as using the pc odin?

P.S. the zip i save on my sd for latter use how do i flash that do i unzip it then what?

A custom recovery is CWM etc. It is a replacement of the stock recovery that allows you to flash other ROMs and mods that aren't signed by Samsung, and also allows you to make a nandroid backup.

Cool so is custom recovery a rom and if not how do i find what rom i need and how to get it for my device?

The recovery is not a ROM. A custom recovery for our phone has to be packed with the kernel. So, you are flashing a kernel to get this. If you are running stock and just want recovery to make a nandroid backup you can flash the AGAT 0.6.8 kernel. If you are going to flash another ROM then you want to flash the kernel/recovery that the instructions from the OP for that ROM tells you to use.

How would i find the rom and what could i do with this rom in my device?

A ROM comprises the Operating System of the phone. There are several each with its own look and feel and features. Check the top of this post. There are links to the post of many different ROMs.

Self you've always been a big help. I'm on touched rom now and I love it. I just bought a hdmi adapter I plugged it in and it worked for 3 minutes now my tv says no signal. Is this an issue that can be fixed without switching roms and if not what Roms support hdmi? I hope this isn't too of topic.

EDIT: I AM SORRY.SELF I FIXED IT. The dc has to be plugged in apparently. You can delete this from your thread if possible.

Ummmm I'm doing this for a return for a bad device. But my custom binary count is still on " yes 2" after flashing this method via Odin. Help on this would be great as I can't have them know I've rooted or flashed custom ROMS as we all know warranty is voided an I'm out 300 bucks..... Thanks.
