[Root One Stop Shop]Roms, Kernels ect..

OP #9 says it is safe to use any of the sprint s2's stock roms. Does that include the rooted roms as well or just the ones that would bring me to pure stock (unrooted)? That would be the easiest way for me to root but i prefer the safest way (perhaps guyphs's way?).

You may be the only one to ever read it, but I made an FAQ here that I think would be good for you to read if you're starting out and have some basic questions. Feel free to skip around to only the questions that interest you of course.

Funny, I already saw this;) Thanks a lot! I did see see the part where you put that if it works on Sprint S2 it should work on Boost S2 but One-clicks I feel are a bit different. Anyways, time to flash away with them Sprint one-clicks. Before I even knew about forums I did not think people actually cared. I have encountered helpful people here and it's amazing.:)

U can do what I pmed u or u can flash the fg31 rooted zip through recovery. Or a rooted tar through odin. But your still gonna need to flash a ics or below modem to have 3g on a non jb rom. . There are many options. Just do whats easiest. Then once u got your root back. Flash the rom of your choice again and start over

It is happening because the ROMs have Sprint defaults for the MMSC server settings, and you need to change them to the settings for Boost. Check out the One Stop Shop that is stickied at the top of this forum. That will show you how to fix it.

Great job with this one stop shop Self!! Received my S2 on Friday, rooted that evening, running custom ROMS by Sat evening, and as of today I have a stock back up, as well as backups of Touched By GS3, Pacman, and Baked BlackBean to play with all week. All of that done while working 12 hour shifts the last three days!!

can someone tell me what a good performance based tw jb rom? im currently using ftw annhilation (however its spelled) and it seems to be a memory hog. i remember before when using regular fl24 that when i would hit my advanced task killer widget button it would say it was around 425-525 memory free. now its like 300-400 free. i also use romtolbox for overclocking and that seems helpful. any tips on oc'ing?

No oc available for jb yet. That's a kernel thing and we don't have any tw jb custom kernels.

Ftw is what I'm on and I like it more than the others. They tw jb roms are all stock based and none of them really have better performance than the others. Maybe flash the nos tweaks. It has memory scripts in it. You may have root apps constantly running like rom toolbox that the task killer can't kill.

its nice that you are memory aware that is a lot of free ram. however task killers havent been needed since froyo. linux can easily handle the memory management. it knows when to close apps. read up on task killers those apps use more resources reopening than staying open.

thx for the info guys.

just ran into my 1st problem on this ftw rom. bluetooth wouldnt connect to a wireless bluetooth speaker. it worked on stock fl24 perfect. it said wrong passcode, but i never entered one.

did you try using 1's in the pass code? Every simple device I have connected to had at least something like all 1's for a pass code.

Have you cleared all the data for synced devices? Make sure your Bluetooth is searching as well. And what type device are you attempting to pair to?

There should be no data for anything bluetooth. I just put this rom on a few days ago. I wiped everything and installed the rom. The device I was trying was a wireless bluetooth speaker and it worked fine before. It's a soundstep speaker

Well tw roms are completely stock sammy or its just tweaked or themed.

Aosp is built from the ground up to have extra features. Or to run an android version we don't even have. To see almost every aosp feature available at once just check out pacman or pac in black.

Aosp can have little bugs tho. Like ours have lower speaker volume. Bad battery life. Callers can't hear you on speaker phone if screen off.

But these issues still exist because we don't have source and that means no custom kernel

so if i try pacman or pac in black does 4g and all work? do i just have to fix the mms?
