Root or not

So after reading this thread I think I'm ready to take the plunge and try to root my phone, but Im still a little hesitant because before I had my droid I had an LG enV2 and tried to install a new firmware on my own and it ended up bricking my phone by erasing all of my phone's ID info (like it's MEID, my cell number, what provider I had, etc.) So I have just a few concerns hopefully some of you can alleviate:

1) Has anyone gone thru this process (the one which is linked to this thread) and had any serious problems? If so, what and how did you fix it?
2) Is there any chance this process will completely wipe all of my phone's ID info like the MEID or cell number?

I dunno about erasing info. You can brick your phone, but note, YOU will brick your phone. It won't just randomly happen. You need to purposely try to mess it up.

The instructions provided in the tutorials are great.

Everything went smoothly!! Got rooted, running SetCPU, and I can't wait to dig even more into the possibilities! Any advice on where I should go from here?

I have a D1, and am tired of getting the low memory notification. Then, I have to go and delete some apps that i kinda like, but don't use daily. I have moved everything I can to my sd card (32 gb). I am terrified at the thought of rooting. Are there others out there who were very apprehensive, but are glad they did? I need talked down from the ledge!

Add a poll. Wait a few days. No reading necessary. You'll get your answer.
