Root Root your updated LG Marquee phone step by step.

Sir, could you kindly please make a video on how you root your lg marquee 2.3.4 please. I keep on getting stuck on the steps, a visual would help greatly.
Thanks

Sorry but I don't have the time atm. I've got mid-terms right now and am studying my tail off. If you haven't fixed it by the weekend, I'll see what I can do. If you are stuck in the bootloop, do as tombob said and do a battery pull. Put the battery bck in and hold vol. down and power until you are in recovery. Choose the clear data/factory reset option then select the reboot option. That should solve your problem.

Here is the link for the zip the Skater is talking about. Flash it after installing CWM. You're almost done. :D

Do not install the update. Install CWM and install what the Skater told you to. I posted the link to the thread.

If your on boost mobile and you've already installed CWM I would just go ahead and install the rooted boost.

You have already been told how to get rid of the update notification. Install CWM and flash one of the Boost zips from this link.

Please follow our instructions if you want to solve your problem. :)

What do I do if my phone won't go to the factory reset page?

-I've tried taking out the battery & redoing it but all I get is the loop and I am going insane, I know I did NOT just do all this to not have a phone period.

Are you inserting the battery then holding volume down and power at the same time? You will have to hold them both for up to a minute until it goes to the screen where you can choose to do a factory reset.

Edit: Make sure that you are not pressing the camera button by mistake. I've done that a few times. LOL

Thanks for the extremely detailed post about this! Everything worked exactly as you had said with the exception of the timing for the Boost version (I had to wait about 5 seconds). Other than that, the whole operation went perfectly. Thanks again!

Thank You for this post it worked like a charm after a few attempts with my xp since my xp didnt work i used a windows 7 and then boom rooted etc, timing is everything it took up to 7 attempts on the timing part and finally i got it thanks alot much props to you cheers.

Which baseband version are you running? Did you take the out-of-the-box update to ZVC or are you still on ZV9? If you took the update you will run into problems rooting. The OP provides links to the files needed to downgrade back to ZV9 after the update. At that point you will be able to root, and then flash back to stock-rooted ZVC.

Again, if you are on ZVC out of the box, you are not going to be able to root until you perform the downgrade. The OTA ZVC update closed the exploits that were used to acquire root. ZV9 still has those vulnerabilies.

Great guide. Step by step and I finished the rooting in less than 15 minutes. I was worried that I'd made a mistake in getting the Marquee (Boost) because I was so used to all of the options available for my Optimus S. At first I was a little nervous, but once I got the ball rolling with the KDZ it was smooth sailing. Kudos. You did a great job with this guide.

Awesome! Great to see the new people coming in here and rooting their Marquees. It's nice to get a little new blood in here.

Welcome to the Marquee section people!!:D

Your welcome, glad to see this thread was of use to many! I created it because I come to this forum looking to figure out how to root my own phone.

It took me some time but I was able to get my phone rooted, thanks to numerous threads. I figured the least I could do is give back to the community. So I created this thread and put everything I learned into a single post in an attempt to make it easier for others to root their updates marquees.

Glad this threads been a success. :D

I just rooted my Sprint LG Marquee today on a WinXP Pro 32b system. It took be three attempts and some mucking around to get past step 11, but otherwise it was smooth sailing before and after that step. Here are some suggestions/updates to the original directions (marked with *) that may aid in the root process. OP and others do you think my updates would work for everyone?

Step 1 - Step 4 unchanged.
...
*Step 5
Unzip the LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix. This will create a folder named
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN go ahead and open this folder.

*Double-click and install msxml.msi.

Step 6 unchanged.

*Step 7
Inside the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN folder you will see another application called KDZ_FW_UPD right click on it and choose run as administrator. This will launch the KDZ updater.

*Change the Type to CDMA- Smart Phone(WM). Keep the default Phone Mode (DIAG).

Step 8 and Step 9 unchanged.

*Step 10
On your phone go to settings browse to Applications then browse to Developement and check the enable USB debugging mode.

*Connect your phone to your computer with the usb cable and keep it powered on.

*Step 10b
Back at the kdz updater tool click on the launch software update button.

This step will fail but we'll use it to figure out when to power on your phone in Step 11.
In the kdz updater status window figure out how long it took to perform the "Unpacking KDZ" step on your computer.

14:28:56 : Unpacking KDZ
14:29:22 : KDZ file extraced

Above it took 26 seconds to unpack the KDZ.
Power off your phone.

Step 10c
close and re-open kdz updater. Change the Type to CDMA- Smart Phone(WM). Keep the default Phone Mode (DIAG). Load the KDZ file you downloaded previously into the kdz updater, just click on the little folder where it says KDZ file.

*Step 11
Back at the kdz updater tool click on the launch software update button.

Boost users immediately press the power button on your phone right after you click on the launch software update.

*Sprint users wait for the amount of time it took for the "Unpacking KDZ" in Step 10b before powering on your phone.

I had to read the forums to figure out how to get this to work on boost and on sprint and trust me the timing is everything, if your phone boots all the way up you've messed up on the timing otherwise it will boot into the update screen. If you mess up the first time just try it again it only took me 1 try to get the boost to work, and 3 tries to get the sprint to work.

Once the update begins just leave the phone alone until the update completes and the phone reboots.

Boost users you will now see the welcome to now network from sprint on boot. Not to worry though were gonna root the phone and then you can install the rooted LS855ZV4 stock so your phone will be back to normal shortly.

If your phone gets stuck in the continuous boot loop after running the update. Just power off your phone, and hold the volume down + the power on button until your phone boots into the factory recovery manager. You will need to use the volume rocker to scroll up and down and use the menu button on your phone as the enter button. You will want to clear catch and restore phone to factory default. You will see the options in the factory recovery window just browse the clear catch and then to the restore factory default settings and after that click the reboot.

Now your phone should boot up successfully without the continuous boot loop. Now we can go ahead and get the phone rooted!

...
Step 12 and onward unchanged.
