Root Rooted but Not Rooted? Need Help Please

Okay, first off I have had this phone for almost a year.
About Phone:
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.05.02
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-gc0a661b
_____________htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
_____________Tue Jun 14 23:58:32 CST 2011
Build Number: 4.24.651.1 CL61076 release-keys
Software Number: 4.24.651.1
Browser Version: WebKit/533.1
PRI Version: 2.15_003
PRL Version: 60683

I decided that I wanted to finally go ahead and root the phone. So last night I restored my phone back to its factory settings and tried to root it. I tried to use the unrevoked 3 method but when trying that it gave me an error saying that my firmware was too new. That really confused me. So I went forth and used this method:
HOW TO ROOT HTC EVO 4G GINGERBEAD 2.3.3 WITH REVOLUTIONARY - YouTube
I believe that is the revolutionary method. That didn't give me any errors and I ended up installing the Clockwordmod as a recovery.

So after no errors reported I checked the only screen that tells me if my phone is rooted or not. Where you hold the Volume Down and Power buttons. This is what I got for the line:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
And as far as I know, that means that my phone is rooted.

However, when I installed programs such as Screen Shot It and Titanium Backup (which yes, they are both APKs) they both said that they could not acquire root privileges. AKA my phone isn't rooted?

Any thoughts on why this is? Anything that I can do to solve this issue?

Just to clarify also, *s-off*, does not mean you are rooted, just means your bootloader is unlocked, which in turn makes it easy to gain root access. (by flashing superuser, clockwork etc)

Follow the gingerbread rooting guide, videos tend to miss important details

not only that but you miss things going between video and phone. You are always looking at one or the other and if you have to go back on a video then your not paying attention to your phone. Much simpler to just go through the guide after you have read it a few times your just following along.

Not to mention our guides are constantly being updated with the most important information, while people tend to leave old videos up and then people have to come here anyway for help because they used a method that doesnt work anymore.

Okay. I followed the tutorial. I basically just continued on. I finished the tutorial. Then I found a rom that I like. I followed the Card Partioning part of the tutorial and now my phone only goes up to the white screen that says HTC EVO 4G. Anything I can do to fix this?

Try to get to recovery.

Pull the battery, put it back in, then hold power and volume down.

If you can get to recovery from there your fine. Reflash the ROM or nandroid back

Also
What was your wiping procedure prior to flashing?

?

I am able to get to recovery. The wiping process I think I actually messed up on. What I did was, from recovery, wipe -> wipe all userdata/factory reset. I dont think I was supposed to do that. I tried to reflash it. This time by wiping again but wiping Cache, Dalvik-Cache, and Data. Then I installed from SD card the SuperWipe. Then I installed the rom. Both times everthing seemed fine. But my phone is still getting stuck on that screen.

what rom are you trying to flash? how long are you waiting? some roms take anywhere from 5-30 min to boot up as it has to build up dalvik cache and cache and on some roms that could take awhile.

I would suggest doing the wipe all setting as well. Literally wipe everything except for SD card a few times and then run superwipe. The first boot after flashing a new ROM can take a while. It has to rebuild all that stuff you wiped

Just looked at xda and it states that that rom may not work on hardware V004 Just a Note I would try mikg2.61

Ya, I'm still very new to this modding. I don't even know much about it to be honest. But I am pretty sure I will be happy with it. What I did was just search on google to see reviews about the best ROMs and I came up with that website. Oh well, you live and you learn. I'm currently installing a different ROM

What are you looking for in a ROM?

Do you want to stay with sense or try the "barebones" AOSP (that in my opinion doesnt look quite as nice but has better performance and battery life)?

Do you want to be on the cutting edge of whats being developed or prefer the stability of something thats been out a while?

One other suggestion I see at the top of the op that you are using clockwork mod I would eventualy change to amon ra or the newest amon ra that does both clockwork mod and amon. And most importand always do backups before flashing. If something goes wrong you can just restore to before you flashed. also be sure to back up wimax;)

Did not know you coulnt flash that in clockwork:confused: I changed to amon imediatly after root so never used it.

yes clockwork mod version 3 and higher only support edify scripting while most flashable zips are in amend scripting. there is only amon ra 2.3, clockwork mod 2.6 and i think the new amon ra style recovery as well.
