Root rooted evo 4g

No it never even reconized it. Now do I just put it in the folder called root in sdcard ?
There is no folder called "root". Root of sd card means the "top" or "not in any folder" of sd card.

Now when I do this is there any chance of it messing the phone up?
No, it will take or it wont. As in your case it didn't take yet, so you still have your old recovery. Once it "takes", you will have a new recovery.

Well I just put it in the sdcard in no folder and still won't reconize it. It just says "loading pc36d**" it goes to fast to see it. Then says "loading pc36img.zip" and then there's another pc36*** can't exactly tell either.

also After each one of the pc36's it trys to load it says wrong image

ok first off the file needs to be PC36IMG. caps are important. second you need to make sure you know how your computer names files. does it show extensions or not?

when you look at a list of files on your computer do you see extensions like .exe. .zip. .bat and such? if so then when you name the file it needs to be exactly PC36IMG.zip.

if not and you see files that does not have extensions then you need to name the file PC36IMG with no extensions.

and lastly make sure that it is not in any folders on the sd card. it needs to be on the card and not in any folder.

Well I've been doin all this on my phone, does it have to be done on a computer?

I don't think it really matters but I feel more comfortable doing it on a computer.:)
mikey is correct. it can be done on the phone, but you will need to move the file so that it is not in any folders and just on the card. i believe depending on the browser, it will download into a folder so you will need to move it.

Forget that last post. Well I've moved it so that its not in a folder but still nothin. I've just got some bad luck.

2g. when the bootloader screen comes up after pressing power and vol down, it automatically goes to load pc36img.zip but won't just says wrong image. Do I have to reboot bootloader ?

Ok appreciate it. I'll get a new & bigger card then try it again and let u all kmow. I really appreciate all the help I've gotten on here by everyone. Thanks

yep the evo does not like 2 gig cards for some reason. do you have the stock card? if not then you will need to get a different card. and while you are at it, i would suggest that you upgrade the card to a higher class card. preferably a class 6 or higher. i have this card:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/413571-sharin-love-16gb-class-10-card-25-a.html. i believe you can get it even cheaper now.

So I still haven't gotten a chance to get a card yet. Work, work, work. But as far as the mikg Rom does everything work on it ? And do u have to flash a kernel with it ? Or is it included with the rom ?

all roms have kernels cooked in. it has to in order for the rom to work. most roms have a custom kernel and some have kernels that the dev really likes and cooked that in.

if you want to know more of kernels, then read this:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/389360-kernels-dummies.html

also to fine tune the kernel(scale the cpu, ie over and underclock the phone) you will need an app called setcpu. here is the guide:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html

and as far as mikg is concerned, everything works. it is a great rom. give it a go and let us know what you think.
