Root Rooted my 2.3.3 Commando - Thanks !!!

Thank you for the update on the information, Paxchristos. I know this going to probably take a while; however, again thanks for the very great effort that you put into this project, and the many hours spent, as well.

Is anyone still working on trying to root the Commando? I've got several friends with Commandos who are waiting on me to get them rooted if we ever get a breakthrough.
Thanks! mrbuilder

I had the 2.2 Commando and rooted the phone with the exploit zergRush downloaded from this forum. It worked like a charm. I saw that the phone had an update so I installed Voodoo Rootkeeper backed up my su. I went and updated the system to 2.3.3 and then used Voodoo to restore su, and still root didn't survive. Thought I was being smart but alas they were smarter. Looks like we can't root this until an exploit is found for 2.3.3

Just found this forum after a few days of playing around with rooting my Casio c771 Commando.:mad: wasted time

I'm guessing that its not possible at this time. Next time i'll read the forums first.

On a side note, my wife "washed" my phone the other day and it survived!.

if I can not get root back on my commando, I will be getting a different phone. It is just too slow without root.

Yep. I never upgraded to m100, so still got root, but definitely going by the root friendly guide before I buy my next phone.

We rooted 500 of these phones for business purposes and are blocking access to the Google Market/Play. Is there any way to let just certain apps access the Market, or is it an all or nothing?

Hey there folks, new user and first post. Since the community supporting the Commando is so relatively small I thought I should register and post up.

Anyway, I ordered a C771 on Tuesday through Amazon wireless because I needed a new phone and the ruggedness appeals to me, as well as the 0.01 price. Anyway, I was worried about the M100+ build, since I've been reading up on the Commando since I ordered it. Fortunately, I lucked out and my phone came with M070. Old stock in the warehouse, I guess, but I'm a happy camper.

Just finished rooting via Super One Click and backed up with Ti so I'm looking forward to getting rid of the ridiculous bloat that comes on this phone.

Anyway, to get to the point, I though some of you might be interested in knowing that there are still new, pre-M100 phones out there for the taking.

Also, many thanks to everyone here for sharing your hard work!:adore:

so would love some input on this one for anyone still out there.

got a commando last month and it came with m100 (not a shocker but sigh). so ended up getting a factory refurb after i discovered a defect with the first one. so i have now had the new one for a couple of days and it wants to do a system update, but it shows i already have M100. so why would it want to do a system update?

As of 2 weeks ago or so there was anther update put out. M110 is the recent update.

M110 is released

Can someone Please help me I can't get my commando to root. I follow the manual root instructions because the one click roots didn't work. I get to step 16 and it says Hellions with blue flames! and I can't continue the tutorial. I have no idea what it could be please someone throw me a bone. my OS version is 2.3.3 and my build number is C771M110. hardware version is 1.1

nope. That just wipes system and user data. I've googled 2.3.3 root many times and have not found a method. Check other devices threads, see if they've found root.
I gave up on the commando. Good first smartphone. But now the only thing it is good for is taking pictures at the pool.

I have the same phone as Wolfman [OS version is 2.3.3 and my build number is C771M110. hardware version is 1.1]

I'm not a religious dude, but I've resorted to praying for a method to root this phone. I'm stuck with it for work and the bloat on this thing is absurd. I'm hoping one of the geniuses on this thread can make something happen. Guess I'll just have to be patient. :smokingsomb:

So I bought this thing, previously assuming that any android was root-able (just upgraded from blackberry). My Commando is m110.

My question is straightforward: Are there Android phones that no one ever figures out how to root? (After the company starts selling then with an update?)

I can pay a ridiculous $30 fee to Verizon to trade this for another model as I am still in my 14 day trial. Or I can wait for someone to root m110. Waiting 3 months doesn't bother me. Waiting for eternity does. There is certain iptables functionality I cannot do until root is applied.

I have been working with UNIX / Linux for a very long time and take root access for granted, so it never occurred to me that an Android would be stuck in userlevel restricted access even though I own the hardware.

Due to my lack of experience with Android phones I have no frame of reference for what kind of time frames are involved in this sort of thing, and what the probability of having a device that can never be root unlocked.

Please advise.

I've learned to live with my unrootable Commando M100 replacement phone, after having had a M80 rooted Commando. This forum has pretty much died out and there's been no progress on M100 for 5 months. So if I were you, ColtsWalker, I'd either keep the Commando and not expect to ever root it, or I'd pay the $30 fee and get a phone that I've researched and am 100% confident that I can root.

Look for a device with an unlockable boot loader. Galaxy nexus is pretty sweat and already has jelly bean, android 4.1.0, available. Battery life takes some tweaking to get right.

So Build C771M110 appears to be unrootable. My motivation for wanting to root my Casio Commando is to strip off the pre-loaded crap that Verizon Wireless installed on my phone, some of it long after I bought the phone via an "update." Is this something that we could potentially sue Verizon Wireless over?

That's funny. But I made the comparison of when I buy a computer I can delete all the garbage off of it, since I own this computer. Why shouldn't I be able to do this with a cell phone? I purchased it.
Then I bought a galaxy nexus and all is well. My next device will be a nexus cell phone as well.
Nexus devices are Google's flagship devices. They will never have a locked boot loader, and developers work on modifying this device first.

Dont get your hopes up but i've got some tricks to try. I rooted my friends commando a while ago and he's letting me mess with it again. I've only got one idea that i'm sure no one has tried yet. but its a shot in the dark, i'll report back when i get another charger cable in the mail

So Build C771M110 appears to be unrootable.

I don't believe it is Un-Rootable, it is just the mass of rootable capable techs are working on popular phones, that what the public wants. We are a small group compared to today's popular phones. That is why I said lets start a fund going and pay several of the top rootable geeks/techs to root it.
