wasted timeWe rooted 500 of these phones for business purposes and are blocking access to the Google Market/Play. Is there any way to let just certain apps access the Market, or is it an all or nothing?
so would love some input on this one for anyone still out there.
got a commando last month and it came with m100 (not a shocker but sigh). so ended up getting a factory refurb after i discovered a defect with the first one. so i have now had the new one for a couple of days and it wants to do a system update, but it shows i already have M100. so why would it want to do a system update?

I've learned to live with my unrootable Commando M100 replacement phone, after having had a M80 rooted Commando. This forum has pretty much died out and there's been no progress on M100 for 5 months. So if I were you, ColtsWalker, I'd either keep the Commando and not expect to ever root it, or I'd pay the $30 fee and get a phone that I've researched and am 100% confident that I can root.So I bought this thing, previously assuming that any android was root-able (just upgraded from blackberry). My Commando is m110.
My question is straightforward: Are there Android phones that no one ever figures out how to root? (After the company starts selling then with an update?)
I can pay a ridiculous $30 fee to Verizon to trade this for another model as I am still in my 14 day trial. Or I can wait for someone to root m110. Waiting 3 months doesn't bother me. Waiting for eternity does. There is certain iptables functionality I cannot do until root is applied.
I have been working with UNIX / Linux for a very long time and take root access for granted, so it never occurred to me that an Android would be stuck in userlevel restricted access even though I own the hardware.
Due to my lack of experience with Android phones I have no frame of reference for what kind of time frames are involved in this sort of thing, and what the probability of having a device that can never be root unlocked.
Please advise.
So Build C771M110 appears to be unrootable.
