Rooting Android 4.0.4 - GT-A7100

Try running a benchmark app like AnTuTu.. i think(?) That tells you the android version.
Honeycomb is a tablet OS so it wont be that
EDIT yeah. On the latest antutu, run the test then when its finished, scroll across to device info and it tells you OS version.
Tell us what score u get too

Lol i think i'm the one with alot of problems, when i downloaded the AnTuTu and ran the benchmark test after the android animation thingy it came back to checking and its been hours since its 0% the first test ran Smooth but this one is still 0%

Well, i couldnt do the Beanchmark thing, but i did some how found out that its not really 4.0.4 its something lower got no idea which it is but i think its gingerbread from this "kernel version 2.6.35.7"
Ripp Off Phone Lol, Oh Well Better Having No Android Right?

Kernel version refers to the Linux kernel that Androin runs on top of. 2.6.anything is an old kernel. 3.4.52 is a current Linux kernel. so just by that, I'd say you're running Gingerbread. Sorry, but you can't trust these noname Chinese phones. If you want a decent cheap phone, the Huawei Ascend Y300 is about the best budget phone right now.

Hi um i'm a total noob what is rom and how do i install it and are there any risk i might have to get the phone repaired again or get the software reinstalled (Scared)

what is rom

A "ROM" is another name for device firmware a.k.a. the "OS" you requested.

how do i install it

According to the description on the site I linked to, the A7100 package includes the flasher program.

are there any risk i might have to get the phone repaired again or get the software reinstalled (Scared)

There's always some risk, but it's a minimal one if you (a) follow all instructions and (b) ensure the device is fully charged beforehand.

I see thanks Slug So do i need to be rooted in order to install rom? and here are my issues lol first is it says Android 4.1 o.o i'm currently runnning 2.3.5 and will that rom make the phone laggy or slow since my specs are reallly low And on the page it says "Title: FEITENG GT N7100 " When my Phone Is GT-A7100

Oh Oh!! and can i backup the current OS? or in this case the Current ROM? cause i dont want to pay 35$ to get the Software back.

I've got no idea how to do this
"Install ROM :
- Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Select a the MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- choose Option->USB Model,click USB Model
–> Choose Option->DA DownLoad All->Speed->High Speed, click High Speed
- Turn off your phone, remove the battery.
- "Press F9 (hit Download button)" OR " if upgrade ROM Firmware->Upgrade "
- and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish !
- You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on."
Are There Any Video Tutoirals for this or Pictures? Sorry I Don't know anything about this stuff Thanks.

do i need to be rooted in order to install rom?

As it's a stock firmware, no.

it says Android 4.1 o.o i'm currently runnning 2.3.5 and will that rom make the phone laggy or slow since my specs are reallly low

Seeing as the manufacturer released it for the device, I doubt it.

And on the page it says "Title: FEITENG GT N7100 " When my Phone Is GT-A7100

Take another look - second row, second from the right is the A7100. ;)

I've got no idea how to do this

Then it's probably best that you don't try.

There may be, but as it's an uncommon device you may have to do some searching.
