Root Rooting GB, with Amon Ra v2.3 recovery

yeah this is the only tricky part with revolutionary. i had to do this like 10 times before it worked. so i used notepad++ to do this. basically i copied the beta key and pasted it in notepad++ then i copied it from there and entered in the key. and it worked for me on the 10th time. frustrated the hell out of me that is for sure

Yes, I believe some has issues with the "1" and the "I" mismatch...possibly check that if I remember correctly.

Yeah I have it copied into my notepad too. Lol but it won't let me paste it into the command Window but I know I'm entering the correct key. I'll keep trying

right click in the command window and you can paste the key in
what does it do when you right click? and the spacing and such has to be exact.

did you try clicking the little c/: in the top left of the terminal window? that should bring up the menu as well, left or right clicking

That's weird that the hboot changed but it looks to me that I have achieved s-off. It should be rooted but it isn't.
I was going to use the amonra recovery I renamed the file just like It said but it didn't work. So I used goo manager to install twrp bc I like twrp. But when I try to go into the recovery nothing is there.

you need to flash the su file or flash a rom. the su file is what gives you root permission or not.

Ok gotcha, the link in the OP for the su file is broken. I thought going into the play store and installing superuser would do the same thing whoops. Lol. I need to figure out why I can't get a recovery to stick first. I renamed the file accordingly but It still won't take.
what does it do when you are in the bootloader? do you have it named right? is it on the root of the card?

When I am in the bootloader it sees the file but it doesn't flash the recovery. The text comes and goes so fast its hard to read. I renamed it but I will make sure it's named correctly.
I'm sure it's something silly I've messed up.
Sadly I have to work so I'll have to pick up where I left off when I get home

OK, back to the task at hand.
I checked to make sure i renamed the amonra zip correctly and it is correct. I even copied and pasted it again to make sure. When i go into the bootloader it tries to do something but says No Image!. what could i be doing wrong here? Its in the root of the SD...

does your computer hide extensions. so when you see the PC36IMG file do you see a .zip at the end of it? if you do not then make sure that you did not add a .zip cuz that would mean the file would look like this PC36IMG.zip.zip. if you do see a zip then make sure that you keep the .zip at the end.

this is for a friend. He saw me using wifi tether on my evo 4G lte and was instantly jealous but doesn't know the first thing about root. So ill probably just keep the stock rom for him. But I'll still make a nandroid just in case anything goes wrong down the road. I brought my evo into work and now this is the third phone I've done for Co workers. 3vo, razr maxx, and now OG EVO. If you include my ltevo that's 4 phones. I'm proud of myself

give him mikg3.11 it is waaaaaaay better then stock but with a stock feel. plus it has the sprint hotpsot hacked.

I kinda wish I could buy an og evo off someone so I can tinker with it. I flash a ton of stuff with the ltevo but I'm always nervous bc its my only device. Shouldn't have sold the 3vo

i'm sure you can one for like really cheap on ebay or craig's list
