Root Rooting instructions for 4.4.4 Build B13 & 4.4.2 Build B33

Both. If you have the T-Mobile version with the b33 update you need the b22 modem for ROMs and if you have the MetroPCS version with the b13 update you would use the b06 modem.
No. No. I understand that. I asked whether he rootes B.33 or B.13. Because I get no root strategy on B.33

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling kingroot? I have 2 people on hangouts who have the T-Mobile zmax on the b33 update and rooted it then flashed the b22 modem and broken os onto it.

MC, I did have a issue initially with the root. Antimalware programs will interfere with the root because it is in a roundabout way malware exploiting a vulnerability.

At least it would be malware if it was attempting to do so without our consent. In my experience lookout has never interfered with rooting but I've never used any other anti-malware apps. Also, I've always had the most success with kingroot right after performing a factory reset. This could be unrelated but I feel that it helps. Trying to overload the phone with a bunch of apps running in the background has never helped in my experience. When I tried to overload the phone kingroot always failed. Every time I have had success with kingroot it was always after rebooting the phone and running kingroot immediately without opening any other apps.

To anyone with the T-Mobile b33 firmware. I need a stock nandroid and a backup copy of the stock recovery.img. It only takes a couple of minutes extra and will help further development for this device as well as give people a way to go back to full stock if needed.

The steps would be as follows.

Install kingroot 4.5.2, the twrp installer apk, and terminal emulator.

Use kingroot to get temp root.

Open terminal emulator and run the following commands.
Grant terminal emulator root access
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery of=/sdcard/recovery.img
Now you have a backup copy of the stock recovery.img in the root of your internal storage.

Next open the twrp installer apk and tap install recovery then grant root access. A couple seconds later you will get a popup saying "Success".

Next uninstall kingroot and purify and reboot to twrp by using the reboot option in the power menu and then holding the volume up button until you see the twrp splash screen.

Finally make a backup of the system and boot partitions then flash SuperSU after you have finished making the backup.

After that is all done put the twrp backup and the recovery.img in a zip file and upload it to google drive, mediafire, mega, box or whatever cloud storage you have. Dropbox won't work unless you have a paid account because they limit file size to 250mb on free accounts and the zip file will be about 600mb.

Question can I update to b13 from butternoob remove twrp install stock recovery then install update rooot again . will it work or do I have to go back to factory stock

Could someone tell me what the big deal is about Band 12.
From what I've read, band 12 LTE penetrates structures better than other LTE bands do and therefore gives you better data signal inside structures where you would normally lose LTE signal. I've also heard that band 12 LTE does not lose signal strength as quickly as other bands as you get farther from the towers. The drawback to band 12 is that it is not as fast as other LTE bands so unless you lose LTE signal on a regular basis you won't benefit from using band 12.

I read somewhere that band 12 gives T-Mobile the vaunted 20x20, which is Wideband LTE.
Nah. 20x20 is areas where T-Mobile has 20mhz of band 4 bandwith. Like masterchief said. It's for signal penetration and signal for longer distances than those on band 4. I use band 12 on a daily basis. I have a dead spot on my way to school. And now I get band 12 though. But. T-Mobile only has 5mhz of band 12 . making it very low capacity in terms of serviceable peers and slow.

Hey folks, i finally have an OTA update knocking at the door of my Zmax b22 from Family Mobile (t-mobile).

I guess it is b33 update. I also caught the update.zip file in case someone needs it...

Should i update? Since it (b33) is rootable now, as per this thread, I'm thinking why knot?...

But from my previous conversation with Masterchief i remember that there was something nasty about b33 update, like completely locked bootloader, instead of the one that just restricted /system to read-only..

or something like that...

so my questin is what's up with that locked bootloader version according to the newest info? does b33 update still allow for twrp, custom roms etc...?

Thank you in advance for your recommendations..
