Root rooting... on Rodgers

OK so I really want to root but I think I am only doing it for the sake of doing it. Im not a super crazy die hard owner.

I LOVE the idea of getting the LED notification light thing and I need to be rooted for that..i think its called nled or something?

I wouldnt mind the extra speed but Im very happy with how it is now.

I cant really see a reason I would want to root it other than those above.
is it worth the risk for being pretty happy with the stock phone?

who can help me weigh my thoughts here on whether to root or not.

also I have the LTE version on I believe the international handset. (the four buttons along the bottom and not the big home button in the middle).. is this rooted a different way?

thanks

The International version does not have 4 soft keys. It has two soft keys and a home button and is not LTE.

It could be one of a few SGSII variations which do have subtle differences.

You should ascertain exactly which model you have and then post in that phones All Things Root forum.

I would advocate rooting though as it gives you more control over your handset and its use.

Hope this helps. :D

As for the LEDs by "nled" you are probably referring to the app "noled" which does not require rooting. It mimics the leds by displaying small indicators on the screen itself.
If you require the LEDs proper to get lit, then yes you do require rooting, and this is referred to as BLN (Back Light Notification)

yes I am thinking of BLN.

It is 100% a LTE phone but has the 4 soft keys. I think its a special Rogers only version.

Ill look more into it.
