Cheers mate, got there before me! Its a nice little mod...
Thanks for that, just updated mine to the same one and all seems good so far...
720p recording is working also... Just gotta see how the signal performs as well as the battery...
Looks like I'm finally up to date again! (Damn Orange branded handsets!!!)
The funny thing is it didn't really make great odds to space or speed compared to vanilla 2.1, just the fact it was clutter and some of the things where designed to make you spend more money on Orange services. Also they removed Google Talk.
Well after scouring forum after forum, I'm not comfortable with any of the rooting procedures that I've seen. There's too many variables and the risk of turning a very expensive device into a paperweight is far too high.
If I had a second device to play with, things might be different. So this is the end of my rooting adventure.
I just need a bit of a summary. Thanks in advance.
What problems occur if you try this with an Orange branded phone?
What's the difference between this method of rooting and the standard way? Which is safer in your opinions?
Which method is easier?
Do you need to create a goldcard?
Also, can you install a froyo rom with this method?
Hi all, i'm just wondering at what stage you need to run Clockwork ROM Manager and Titanium Backup? Is it immediately after the phone is rooted. Thanks for any info
Have rooted, flashed and partitioned my orange branded HTC (unlocked) exactley as detailed in post 1. So now have plenty of space for apps and can install to SD card.
All seemed OK but some apps are now failing to install, for example google sky map and radardroid, but other install and update fine. Have tried uninstalling fully and re-installing apps in question but still no joy.
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix it would be graet.
nharber: what bootloader/software version etc are you running? you can check the bootloader by starting phone with the vol.down button held (once the screen comes on it tells you in the 1st couple of lines). If it is above 0.80 then this method does not work, as yet.
HBOOT - 0.92.0001
Radio - 5.09.00.20
Base - 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
Software - 2.09.405.8
Any help ?
If you find yourself on version 0.92 of the bootloader you can downgrade to 0.80 (and Android 2.1) using this tutorial.
I will now attempt to use this one click process to install a custom ROM.
