NFC tags are pretty useful too.

Stick an NFC tag in the kitchen and have it run a cooking app, have one at work to put silent mode on, etc.

I know that part of NFC isn't as much of a "wow" feature as NFC payments, but it's still very useful and somewhat futuristic in its' own right :p
Also, ISIS is supposed to be rolling out in September and the S3 is slated to get the feature (probably why the US carriers blocked Wallet):
Here are the Isis Approved Devices From Each Carrier, Service Launching in September – Droid Life

I voted Yes. Of course it will. The life of ANY flagship device is usually 6 to 10 months these days. I figure when the quad core LTE phones start hitting the US the S3 will start to fade in the news, but so what. I still have a great phone that I will not consider upgrading until a significant increase in usability appears. And I don't see that happening even with the first quad core phones. And I certainly don't see it with the iPhone 5 or the Note II.

Well then, I guess it depends on your definition of "soon". I would consider doo to be a maximum of for months from now and I'm not really seeing anything huge on the horizon.

Of course it's matter of when not if, just like any phone. The only phone that will dethrone GS3 spec wise now seems to be LG Optimus G (4.7" HD/IPS, quad S4 pro, LTE, 2Gb RAM, etc). But we don't know when it will launch globally or in US. And LG still has pretty lackluster reputation on android phones though I think they are getting better.

Other than that, probably the next Nexus phones will trump GS3 too. but we don't have any clue on when/what spec.

The Note 2 announcement said it'll be quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos chipset, so hopefully it'll work with LTE and come that way in the States.

Do tell more about the RAZR HD...

My dad uses my ex Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and my iPhone4S my mom...gave them up as soon as the S3 hit stores in UK. The S3 was light years ahead of the S2...now the S4...I'm wetting my jockeys just thinking about it. S4 2013 unless the world ends in 2012 :/

Razr HD won't be dethroning anyone, especially the S3. Its going to be a VZW exclusive in the states and honestly won't be too much of a contender for the S3 or the iPhone 5. Especially since it won't be shipping with the Razr Maxx battery or the 13 megapixel camera that was spoken about. Instead it will just be a slightly better specked Moto Razr.

nope.
ios isnt just as good as it can be. doubt ios6 will be fantastic. mountain lion is a completely dud. so the expectation isnt high.

hardware, ehhhh. its not gunna be like 5 cores or somethin. probably duel core for LTE compatibility. maybe 1.5-2gb ram. decent camera, slightly larger screen not anywhere close to 4.8 inches our badboy has.

the boring stuff.
so no.

only phone i see giving s3 a challenge is the nexus phones coming soon :3

I'm hoping for a nicely specked Nexus! That would be a topper for alot of people. If they do in fact release aother Samsung Nexus with lets say a shooter as good as the S3, at&t's LTE bands, decent build quality, running pure Jellybean on a 720p display with Gorilla Glass 2....I'm all in, I'll gladly buy it unlocked from the Playstore for $599.

I'd look twice at a Nexus 2 with those specs, though I don't know I'd jump for that price. I paid $349 for my current Nexus.

My guess is the S3 will retain its popularity as a phone. The Note 2 interests me, but it's not a primary phone device. iPhone 5 will retain its fanboy user base, but it'll be a little lackluster in comparison. Droid Razr Max HD will sell on its battery life, but its design is still a bit clunky and it's stuck with Motoblur. HTC's One line gets high marks in comparison duos, but it just doesn't have the sexy factor.

I got the S2 last Fall when it finally came to Sprint. It was still a good competitive phone when I got the S3 this summer. I expect the same by the time the S4 comes out next year.

The only phone I could see myself being tempted to buy is the Nexus. But it would have to come to me as an unlocked device with microSD slot and better camera at an afforadble price. Otherwise I'll keep my S3 on contract and my GNexus on prepaid.

If its unlocked and available with at&t's LTE I'm all over it! I just really hope that Samsung goes the extra mile and puts a quality shooter on board with a nice HD screen. With a phone like that, I'd be very happy!

Have people not actually paid attention to recent devices?...Blur is by far the closest to AOSP that you can get from an OEM...

I dunno, I've not had a close up on whats coming from Huawei to be fair. Its pretty close to AOSP too.

As much as I love this phone, it is now garbage. I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. If you buy an Android phone that has been out on the market for 2 months+, you're buying a POS excuse for a phone. It came out in July so it's old now. And with the iPhone 5 around the corner, I tell people they should wait for that too. Strangely nobody really wants to take a look at Windows...

There are so many high-end android competitors- motorola, samsung, htc, etc. and they all are constantly coming out with new phones. Then there is the iPhone.

For me, the S3 is a fantastic phone. But I tell my friends that the S3 was a great phone and to wait.

If Apple goes after the S3 and bans it, I'm hoping for prices on ebay to shoot up. Then I'll buy a galaxy note 2. If I could pick between the S3 and galaxy note 2, I'd pick the note 2 in a heartbeat. It's better and bigger than the S3.

Have you just come back from the pub pissed :D

You love the S3 but its now garbage as its 2 months old and a POS!!!!. You think its fantastic but wouldn't recommend it to a friend!? But you would recommend they wait for the iPhone 5!!! You think Apple will ban the S3 so its price will go up!

You need to keep off the booze or whatever mate

Lol...I wouldn't really label the GS3 as Garbage, I mean seriously! Even with my drain issues, I still see it at the top of the phone food chain.

As for windows...lol

As for the iPhone 5/6 ...A taller thinner iPhone 4S with a very boring ios 6 is really all I see there.

As for the Note...I've got pretty big hands and have to say the 1st Note while fun to use was just annoying as an everyday phone for me. Its just a bigger version of the GS3 with an S pen...I don't see it being as big a success as the 1st one.

All in all, when the GS3 gets jellybean with project butter and a firmware update its a wrap...It will IMO be the best phone on the market for a while, and will only be challenged by a real deal specked well Nexus device...

iPhone5:
iOS has been always known to run smoothly on their phones. No lag, no delay.

This is not necessarily true. My friend has an iphone 4 and i watched him go in and out of a setting...it was choppy and delayed. I think this was over-hyped. The OS being smooth.

I'm not saying IOS isn't smooth, overall, but i'm also saying even on a TB i thought the Android OS was smooth. There will always be some hiccups.
