Root Safe modem update.

Thanks Optimus. I copied the file over, but still am getting the same error...
I think if you remove other preloaded apps that might also be the problem.
I had that problem as well, I just went with the update made available by these great guys here. The other files that will be incorporated into future mods will get the rest of it.

Im still trying to understand all the terminology but Im on ED13 and shabbymod 0.6. Will this be beneficial for me to do this. I just want to make my phone better if possible. Thanks!

Did someone post the stock build.prop?

for the patch file to ee14, it shows under Patch>system>app
bluetoothOPP.odex.p
bluetoothservices.odex.p
bluetoothtestmode.odex.p

And a number of other applications, are these updates to those files? If so is there a way to manually install them?

Has anyone noticed if it did in fact improve battery life?

I've actually experienced a lot worse battery life. It used to go down at a rate of 1-2% per hour with 3G on, and now even with 3G off it's going down 3-5% per hour.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening?

Also, is there anyway to go back to the EE13 modem? I might consider it if battery life does not get a bit better.

I'm not currently running shabby mod on my prevail. I'm on stock EE14.

Though I can say i've seen a increase in battery life on the stock ROM.

Perhaps its apps you have running in the background? I would recommend you check whats running under settings>applications>running. Kill all apps you currently are not using (select them and hit force stop) or download an app killer if you find certain processes restart. IE Gmail, I have mine on a force kill list due to the fact that it restarts when i'm not using it, same with telnav and one or two apps I have installed.

***Edit****

I might also recommend using a battery calibrate tool to wipe current stored settings for your battery's performance and monitor it over the next few days as it rebuilds its data to see if that helps.

Also in addition you can run the battery till its dead, continue to try and power it back on until it will no longer power up at all, and then plug it in for at least 8 hours and let it fully charge. Might help reset the battery and give correct readings on current charge.

Well I see so significant increase, so I will see how the battery life goes

I too thought there was no increase, then I went to work where I can only use my phone out in front of the building. I am typing and sending this reply from my stockroom in the back of my store. I am pleased 1, that I have signal, and 2,.that I can actually use the signal. My battery is holding up better as well!

SOMETHING has dramatically increased my battery life. Almost double. I am getting close to 30 hours now with light to moderate use. I will find out next week how it holds up to heavy use. I am not sure that the 3g is any faster, but it is not slower.

I am running ShabbyMod .8 and the new modem for EE14.

I must admit that I do not use it very much for voice calls as I have a company phone for that. I also have never used the Bluetooth on this phone. I gather that there have been problems possibly related to this.

I did lose reception, once after a voice call. i had to reboot to get it back. That was 2 weeks ago.

I finally bit the bullet and ran the update and everything ran fine. I got a little bit ahead of the batch script because I had read it before hand and actually rebooted from recovery mode before it said to do so and my phone was almost entirely booted before out actually came up. You should almost move the instruction to before adb.exe wait-for-device

I also corrected a few spelling and grammatical errors. If you would like I can upload the corrected bat file. Not that they're huge problems or anything.

sure that would be great :D

There is a timing issue with the script for this and the root script. I ran it line-by-line from command prompt and it worked perfect. Increase the pings in the script and it should be compatible for everyone!

Hey guys, one question. I am rooted and running stock ROM presently. If I accept the OTA EE14 update, will it unroot my phone or will it remain rooted? and if it does unroot should I just use the method here in this thread to update modem? Thanks in advance.

If the only thing you did was root, you should be fine to update.
It -will- unroot you
If you removed any stock apps from /system/app it will probably generate an error message and cancel the update.
If that happens, you'll need to use ODIN to update your phone.
There are stock and rooted images of all 3 revs of the phone, so whichever you most prefer :)
