If its that big of an issue then y not root, get dj05 leak, and a new rom/kernel? I can say that probably anyones phone on here with "aftermarket" lol rom/kernel will outrun an X..

I had a rooted eris and had a TON of roms on there but never had one that ran as smooth as the original. So I am scared of hacking this one and then being disappointed and jumping from rom to rom weekly.

1. the ability to my micro sd card function as the on board memory- to make up for the dismal 2 GB Samsung gave this thing- I can't believe these phones made it to marked months after the Dinc did with so much more on board memory.
2. fixes to little glitches like the GPS issue.
3. Flash would be nice. I am a baseball fan (as my screen name would imply) and I have a subscription to Major League Baseball's broadcasting service. If I had Flash, I would be able to watch the games via mlb.com. Right now I can't. It's ever more upsetting when I think about the fact that Apple and MLB made an app that allows iPhone users the ability to watch games on their units. I HATE admitting that iPhones are superior in any way, but in this area they are.

lag wont be fixed by 2.2...that is a result of samsung using the rfs file system for whatever reason
gps is fixed by the leaked dj05 update, but i understand resistence by those not wanting to root and run leaks
true google experience on this phone will only come from aosp, which seems to require 2.2 ril files...so im hopeful that happens soon...but again you will need to root to use an aosp rom
1. 2gb is a tad small yes....but really saps had like a million apps at one point and couldnt come close to filling it up
....but when 2.2 (when it comes) will allow apps2sd fwiw2. like was mentioned, if you need to fix gps, root and install dj05
3. well im usually "meh" when it comes to flash, but it seems like you have a legit reason to want it...id assume by next baseball season (and if we dont ahve 2.2 by then, we never will) you ll be good to go

wel theres that and other things here and there i agree
....my point is just that the yelling for 2.2 is a bit much and over things that generally arent a huge deal....dont get me wrong, its a big screwup for sammy/vzw to not have it out yet

The reason i'm complaining is like you said about other phones having 2.2 and not me. Also, that would mean that future updates that might have major changes will also be delayed for my phone.I think the true answer is that ppl hear other ppl crying they want it so it makes them want it. And other phones have it so y dont I have it?
I could almost gaurentee that most of the people that are making it such a big deal do not know what the changes truely are....now trying not to trip as i get off my soapbox

Most people truly don't know what changes there will be with froyo they just want it because they hear "we should have it". And as for it pushing back other updates we really don't know that. I know that everyone is saying that it will make gb take till say summer but we don't know that. And we also don't know that we won't just skip froyo and go straight to gb, not likely but until we get froyo who is to say any different. I do hear people say thats wasting money but its not. Other galaxy s phones are getting froyo so that isn't wasting money. Maybe verizon couldn't work bugs out of froyo so they are waiting til after nexsus s to give us gb. Of course they wouldn't do this before christmas because that would take away from ppl buying the nexus. So until we see one or the other we really don't know. Ahh now there's my .02

Your right. Im not saying that I dont like the SF. I actually like it over any other VZW phone and I love how everything functions. I dont have any complaints about the phone. Im happy with my choice. I think I over reacted when I found out that we didn't get froyo in November and would have to wait until next year. Hopefully you are right about other updates pumped out the same time as for other phones. We'll just have to wait and see.
It would probably be a good idea to just have a " I can't wait for froyo complaint thread "where everyone can voice their opinion of why they are so frustrated in waiting for it to release.

I want Froyo for:
1) Faster browsing and better power utilization
2) Push chat notifications for the new FB update
3) Gingerbread KB hack
4) Chrome to Phone
5) Flash would be at the bottom of my list
There's a lot we're missing by not having Froyo

....having had 2 android phones with 2.2 im painfully aware of the limitations of 2.1....i just like to point out that the majority of people complaining about the lack of updates usually dont have a good reason for it other than "i want it"when people have specific reasons, i completely understand

Well Froyo 2.2 obviously has enhancements & fixes in it, so those that are technical savy naturally want it. i think the frustration is coming from the fact that it was promised 6 months ago. if you arnt going to deliver on something, thats fine. just dont say you are.
i bought my phone under the premise as supplied by samsung that it would be updated to froyo. if i would have known it wouldnt be until 2011 i might have made a different choice.

Amen to that. That is exactly why I am angry at Samsung and mostly at VZW: Their broken promises. And i want flash to work cause it'll make me feel better.
