Meh life goes on. Dwelling in the past only makes it that much harder to keep moving towards the future. shit happens and the best thing to do is learn from it and see the up side to things. That's my philosophy atleast.
Words to live by. Nicely done and a pragmatic perspective for sure

I like your philosophy. One I try to live by, but don't always succeed.

Man look at us go a full page of posts in half a day.:D

Ok just since I've totally got cookies on the brain now.

Since Raptor started the pet thing (and I'm bored at a slow day at work), I present my cats:

Now, is that an alley cat or is it's name Alley Cat?

Both. She was the alley cat where my husband lived, and he started feeding her. One day when it snowed a few feet he let her in to get warm and she kind of stayed. That's the name that stuck.

Perfect mix of energy and personality

Best damn dogs I've ever had. Energy out the ears, but they actually listen, and love being told what to do. I've always said that if they had opposable thumbs I could train them to do all my housework... and they'd happily do it. Border Collies have way more energy than any one dog has a right to, though.

gotta love the working class breeds (shepards, collies, etc...) they love to work and love to please their owners. And you're right that are so freakin smart.

Strays that we adopted at the beginning of this year, my wife begged me for over a year to get some cats, finally I caved. :p

sorry But I hate cats. We don't get along

That's because you treat them like animals. Once you realize they're little furry autistic people, they make a lot more sense. I joke that my son has Asperger's, and so do my cats.

Rule to live by: Cats aren't pets, they're roommates. ;)

Agreed, but I want a dog! I've never had a dog and I feel inept in life because of it!

Oh, I totally understand! Which is why I have dogs, too. Totally different experience than cats. What kinds of dogs do you like?

They CAN be cold and distant (ours are distant, but not cold...we got them when they were older than I'd have liked). I've met cats that are just like a dog: food, sleep, and attention are all they require (and a few that play fetch to boot!).

Cats are cold and distant. Its not a pet/animal thing. Its a personality clash

Hehe.. you've never been around our Shiva. He's the cuddliest damn cat I've ever met. 22 pounds (he's half Himalayan, half Maine Coon), and he LIVES for people time. We are required to spend at least 15 minutes petting him every night at bedtime or he sulks. He's like a real life teddy bear.

Best cat ever was a runaway we sheltered for a night, most chill cat ever.

His mentality:
"You're gonna sit down? Mind if I sit next to you? No? Great. Hrm, I think I'll just put my head on your lap and purr, is that alright? Sweet. Oh, you're getting up? Cool, I'll be here when you get back, ready to purr some more."

He was awesome...unfortunately we found the owners and returned him...only to find him standing in front of our door AGAIN the next day. We should have kept him then but I felt bad and returned him yet again (they had lots of big dogs that didn't like him).
