Help Samsung Moment Tethering

Well, i wasnt able to get root'd tonight but I did get pdanet to work on my new samsung moment. Win7 home premium, 4gb ram, duo core 2proc, ... speed was less than nice...
I tested with speakeasy.net servers and dslspeedtest.
With pdanet set to high priority in tasklist
.30 mbps down and .29 mpbs upload.

I have full bars on phone... It says EV on phone screen. What else can I do to get more speed? Can I switch to a different tower somehow at home? (anyone have method for switching?)

Thanks to everyone for the great posts. I followed some instructions and it worked like a champ!

BW, StevenX

I am new but isn't there a bit of speed difference between wireless tether and pda or any usb app for tethering? Any benchmarks? Does rom or task optimization impact the benchmarks for DL/UL? Thanks, StevenX
Using wireless tether, I had a 54Mbps connection between my phone and laptop the other day (same as at home using my wireless router. I checked speeds and they were consistently above T1 down and up rates.

problem with the wireless tether for me is my phone locks up after 30min of use.
Welcome to CDMA lockup. I wish they would come up with a fix for it, but in the mean time restarting the phone should temporrarily fix it. Yeah, that's a PITA, but it's what we have to do.

i am also trying to tether my Samsung moment...I have the PdaNet loaded in my phone and i have the pdaNet icon on my laptop....I cannot get them together so i can tether....if you find out how....please let me know...thank you Gadget
You need to download the new pc studio for samsung
It has the drivers you need

Bringing this thread back because of an issue I'm having.

Installed azilink 2 weeks ago on my work XP computer and had it working using the .bat file. Last used it on Thursday last week I think. Today it wouldn't work. I'm getting "error: device not found" in the startup. Here's the full text:

I uninstalled all Samsung drivers and tried reinstalling, but now I'm getting an error when installing the "Samsung Android Composite ADB Interface": "Fatal error during installation". It shows in device manager as S3C6410 Android ADB with an "!" next to it. Attempting to reinstall the drivers gives me the same error, even after re-downloading the drivers (megaupload link still works).
I'm also seeing "!" next to Microsoft SMS Mirror Driver, SMS Virtual Keyboard, and SMS Virtual Mouse. I'm pretty sure that's new. These don't have anything to do with azilink do they?

I know I haven't made any changes to the system since I last used azilink. Any ideas?

OK, just got it working here at home.

Appears there's one more usb driver I need to delete that isn't labelled as Samsung. I figured that out when I had to delete the drivers here at home (Apparently, restarting your computer while the phone's still plugged into it just confuses the hell out of everything). There was a "mass storage device" assigned drive letter R pulling 100mA, which turned out to be the phone. I access the sdcard in My Computer as "Moment(I):", but whatever.

I've been off work since shortly after I posted this Wednesday, and have to wait until Monday to try and fix it at work. Hope it works.

Still, no idea about those SMS things in Device Manager. Used by IT for remote access maybe? Then why wouldn't they be properly installed?

OK, I have no idea what's going on. Uninstalled all Samsung/Android usb drivers. All other drivers in usbdeview are accounted for. Deleted the drivers from C:\Windows\system32\drivers because they don't disappear on their own and just reinstall from there otherwise. Still getting the fatal error on the composite adb interface when I try to install. The other 3 drivers install correctly.

The "one more driver" on my home comp didn't show up here at work. Maybe it was a leftover from my pre-rooted, debugging deselected days.

I looked for the drivers in the registry. They all uninstalled under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB, but there's still an entry under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR that won't delete: "Disk&Vend_Android&Prod__UMS_Composite&Rev__00\M900b5b7bc2b&0". I am admin on this computer. The "FriendlyName" is "Android UMS Composite USB Device".

I've tried different usb ports, just in case something suddenly went weird with the port I've never unplugged my cable from-no luck. I was also going to bring in my other cable today, but forgot it. Hopefully that's the problem, because I can't think of anything else.

Why is there no "banging-head-against-wall" smiley?

Maybe I need to go to the tablet forums, but when I run the WiFi tether program on my rooted Moment everything I have can use it (iPod, laptop, etc) except for my Cruz Tablet. Even when I give it the SSID and stuff, no dice. Any suggestions?

Edit - Nevermind, the WiFi tether is in AdHoc mode which Android doesn't support without editing two config files in SYSTEM.

Can I curse in this forum? Dammitdammitdammitdammitdammit.

New cable, new usb port, same fatal error when installing, but just the ADB interface. And yet it works at home, so it can't be the phone itself. It's somehow this computer, which one day just decided to stop playing nice.

Comparing Device Manager and usbdeview between the 2 computers, on my home computer where it works it's listed as 'SAMSUNG Android Composite ADB Interface' with driver 4.50.7.0 provided by google, inc. Here at work it's 'S3C6410 Android ADB' with no driver info. 'Update Driver' fails.

Oh yeah - the "one more driver" at home? Reinstalled at the same time (down to the second) as the Samsung Android-specific entries, and shows connected approximately 30 seconds before the android entries in usbdeview. Called 'Generic USB SM Reader USB Device'. usbdeview also showed it pulling 100mA, while 'Android UMS Composite USB Device' was pulling 96mA at the same time. How does that happen? Still drive R:, which I'm thinking is assigned to one of the slots I never use in the multi-card reader. Tells me to Insert Disk when I click on it. No entry like that on my work computer.

Hey look. Someone else had this issue long ago:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-moment/83696-install-issue-adb-interface.html

I think I give up.

I use Easythether on my Moment. It works well until the 14 day trial is up but I spent the $9.99 for the upgrade to Easythether Pro and have had no problems at all.

OK. Not going to do it, but thanks.

Have you downloaded pda to your windows in tried to install it that way hey use the installs but self meaning it puts a application on your phone if you already have the drivers installed when you start installing p d a it will ask you do you wanna re install a driver click no
