you dont need more than class 4.

any higher class is for recording 1080p video, the triumph doesnt do that, so it would be wasted money.

I have a class 6 16gb and i dont ever do anything to take advantage of it.

just get the SIZE card you want
 
Yeah, I use a 16gig class 4 and have no issues. It won't hurt to use a higher class, but it definitely isn't needed to go that high.
 
I have a 16gb class 10 card in my triumph and it doesn't cause any problems. I don't really see any noticeable improvement though from the original memory card that came with the phone though. The capacity is nice though.

not necessarily true i had a bad experience with a 32gb class 2 memory card i had to return it cause the transfer rate was so slow thats when i decided to bump upto class 10 best decision ever that thing flys lol

i've been using the same 16GB class 10 card since my intercept; and i just like it for the transfer rates, for when i have to restore my SD card after partitioning. it does write at 10-15 Mb/sec when you use a good card reader on the computer.

Well, I meant that in normal use you wouldn't notice the difference between say class 4 and class 10.
My class 4 has never been too slow.
If you transfer huge amounts of data all at once you would, but how often is that needed?

Unless you transfer tons of data to it every day or are recording video that the phone is not capable of, class 4 or 6 is fine. Class 2 would be on the slow side, but if you're not transferring data a ton it would work as well.
 
Actually class 2 or class 4 Sandisk is what you want. There is a great thread on this at xda, in the nook color section. The class specification deals with the sequential writing speed which is not important unless writing large files. What you want is the fastest possible small block writing which is always found on the Sandisk class 2 and class 4 cards.

When I first got my Triumph I slapped in and old 4 gb class 4 that I had and did not notice any slowdown, but the next Saturday I bought a 16gb class six sandisk and everything is good. Not having taken any videos with my new phone I can't really comment on the class 6 actually being better/faster than the class 4. Moving data via usb cable seems about the same to me. so, I think you are safe to get just about any class card that you want. I would avoid class 2 though.

If you take the time to look at the link I posted you would realize how wrong you are to avoid class 2, Sandisk that is. I have many micro-sdhc cards going all the way up to class 10. The fastest for small block writing is also the cheapest, class 2 Sandisk. I use crystal disk mark to check them myself and the sequential writing, that is the class speed, means no difference for phones and for tablets. I tried running cm7 off my 8GB class 10 Transcend on my nook color and it wouldn't work. It would boot but it was slow and unresponsive. Put the same image on an 8GB class 2 Sandisk and the nook color came to life and worked flawlessly. Same difference on the phones, unless you are writing very big files all the time then the sequential write speed is not applicable.

Now if you take your class 2 card and stick it in your HD camcorder it will not work well for you. That is where you need the higher sequential write speeds because you are writing large amounts of data sequentially and need the speed.
 
I have a Sandisk Class 4 32GB card.

I agree, shop for what size card you want.

Pretty much the only time you will notice a difference between card classes (between class 2 and class 10 for example) is when you are writing large amounts of data to it.

If you transfer several gigs of data from your pc to your class 2 sd card it will transfer at a rate of 2MB per second, and a class 10 10MB per second etc.. which can add up to a lot of time if you are transferring a good chunk of data.

Other than large data transfers, anything class 2 or above will not make any difference for everyday use in my opinion.. :)
