I thought once we got official 2.2 we would be able to take screenshots but when I look in the market all I find is apps fir rooted devices ..am I misunderstood or has an app just not been created yet fir non rooted devices?

Shoot me. In the app store. Just went live for unrooted users also.

Still shows up as ROOT only for me...

AFAIK, you have to have root access for an app to grab a screenshot.

If you're hooked up to your PC though, ddms has and always will be able to grab screenshots.

Yeah, it really depends on the device and the O/S version.

Some apps will work on some phones un-rooted...

vr4 is right that you can always use the Android SDK's ddms utility to do a device capture...of course, that's not really an app or something that runs on your phone, but it works beautifully and absolutely does not require root access (I use it to take screenshots for my apps).

Cheers!
