Root SD Partition now WHAT

mik3db1 has a2sd built in so as long as your card is partitioned it will automatically move the apps for you. titanium backup on the main page will tell you how much room you have in your partitions. not sure if mik3db1 supports darktremors or not, but if it does you can also use that to move the dalvik cache to the card as well.
no dalvik cache is where your phone stores any executable files that are need to run the phone. they are temporary but need. it is one of the things that you wipe before flashing a rom. it is also why when you wipe dalvik cache that makes the phone boot up process take longer then normal.
so you your a2sd (ext3 partition) is set at 1.91g and you have 1.67mb of that free. your overall card size is 13.9 (you are partitioned so the full amount will not be listed becuase of the ext3 partition). you have an internal memory of 448mb with 368mb of free space. and your rom space is 367 with 15mb free (this i would not worry about). so with 368mb of free internal memory and a little over 1.5mb of free space for your apps, you can hold a crap ton of them like me. what you will see as you get more apps is that your internal memory will barely move, but you a2sd space will get smaller.
you have 336mb free!!!!!!!! that is a lot of free memory to have.

If I take a spare sd card and format and partition it and use it instead of my current card, will Mik3d automatically put the apps onto the card? Does it give you some kind of msg when it does it?
Mk3D doesn't NEED dt? But then you say it would be good to have to move the D-cache, which way are you moving it? Is there an optimal size for it if you get a chance to change it?
If you flash another rom that does have built in a2sd, are there a lot of complications?
What happens if you put the non partitioned sd back in, does the rom go nuts wondering where the apps are?
In that case, could you just restore the apps that you had backed up on the original card, or would that really blow it's mind?
Then, what is the minimum speed or class sd card you would try this with to avoid bad performance?
I don't ask enough questions, do I?

I would guess the rom would go a little nuts if you changed SD cards because the ext3 partition has now become an integral part of the operating system of the phone. So best to not do this without first moving apps back to phone with a2sd.
Flashing another rom you would simply wipe sd-ext during your pre-wipe session and then flash the new rom without incident. Also make sure when you nandroid you select sd-ext as part of the backup process.
I do not move my cache to the SD card. There is plenty of room leftover on the phone once you are running a2sd. I figure best to go ahead and leave that part running internally.

I have a radio shack 16 gig but not sure if it a 6 or a 4 or what. Other spares I have are just 2's! Useless.
If it does not say, then it is a 2.

If it is a 4 then you can try partitioning and it may or may not work out performance wise. If it is a 6 then you should be good to go. That said, I've even heard of folks doing perfectly fine on class 2 with partitioning and a2sd. So you should be good to go.

I have 2 Zio m6000. My phone came with os 1.5 and I did the up date over the air to 2.2.
The second Phone we pick up new with os 2.2. both phones are rooted. My phone all apps move to my sd card. My wifes only a few apps will move. I load the same app On both phones and I can move it on mine. My wife's is greyed out. I did partion the SD card on her phone the other night. still no go. I do not have my card portion (if it is is nit showing in app I check it with.)

Ok, I guess I should pull it out and back it up again and then try it.
Is there much of a speed difference with the extra free ram on the phone?

I saw no noticable speed difference. The only benefit is when you are loading some of these large 3.0 roms you will actually have space to fit apps. Also it is good if your an app whore like Ocnbrze... or so i hear
Think of it kinda like (but not rly) when you mount an extra drive into your file system on linux to expand that particular "folder's" storage room.
