Accessories Seidio 1600mAh extended life battery

Thanks for a very useful review. I ended up buying one of these, but the Pebble doesn't seem to power off when I'm charging it, i.e. the lights keep flashing from low to full, but this has been like this for approximately 10 hours! It is being charged via the mains with a USB adapter. Do you know if this is faulty? I've had three of these now and they all seem to suffer from the same problem!

I'd try it on a PC, potentially it doesn't like the AC -> USB adapter that you're using. Just a guess as the light on mine turned solid when it was charged off of USB (it took about an hour or so but it was partially precharged when it arrived so don't know how long it takes from empty).

Edit: This a Powerbee but I believe these are both just rebranded "i5000"s anyway.

From what i know of no you dont need to drain it fully then charge it as i have give it a part charge. And yeah it will cover you for the weekend easily i would have thought. However am unsure about the flashing not stopping i usually give it a charge over night if a plan on using it

This thread is seriously contorted, it started on higher capacity batteries and digresses to jump battery chargers, come on the MODS... You can pan them to the correct slots surely. !!
 
Ive ordered the veho pebble and the powerbee. I read the power bee only registered as chargin as USB so I thought I would get the cheaper one to leave at work and use the veho for general use for home and recreation. I havent used the veho yet but im using the powerbee now and I can tell you it registers as AC charging and is virtually identical to the veho except cosmetic differences. the ports, power button and leds are all in the same place.

Im tempted to return the veho and get a second powerbee seeing as its half the price
 
Yep, if you use the cable that comes with the Powerbee then it shows as AC charging.

As best as I can tell, the two devices are literally identical. The instruction manual even uses the "real" model name ("i5000 Power Pack" or something) and you can find wholesale listings for it.
 
Charged my Powerbee on the mains and it also never stops flashing,dont remember it doing it first time ,but i spose it must have
 
As i said earlier ,when i first got my Powerbee i topped it up to full by mains,since then have drained it and left it charging overnight with supplied power cord ,plugged into a mains usb adaptor,this morning it was still flashing ,but had 2 bars when unplugged,have since plugged into laptop and is flashing as it charges .
Dont really know if i can charge by mains now.
 
Just connected my phone to my Powerbee for the third charge and the Bee died after ten minutes. That doesn't seem right. I'm going to charge the Bee again and see how many charges I get out of it, but really I was hoping for 3-4 charges, not two.
 
Ok yesterday I charged my desire from 5% to full with the pebble using the supplied cable.

The pebble was fully charged and showed 3 leds. After 70% charge one led was gone. At the end of the charge I was left with 2 leds.

I dont know how will this thing charge my phone 3 times... :mad:
 
You're assuming the LEDs represent one third of the charge each.

I lost one LED after the first charge. After the second charge I still had two showing. Then ten minutes into the third charge it died. I wonder if it wasn't properly charged in the first place since it came partially pre-charged and it only took a couple of hours to top it up to "full".

I am charing my Bee to full now and then I will test again over the next few days.

I wouldn't buy one, barely notice the difference and if anything the battery that came with it probably lasts longer.

I've had it a week now, charged it loads daily and have even drained it twice but it's not lasting longer then 4 hours with frequent use.

Not worth sacrificing the look of the phone for such a debatable improvement.

Well I am experiencing the same "issue".

Just after my last post my phone was depleted, i was playing games and doing heavy navigation on it.

So I decided to do a second charge with the pebble.

20 minutes after it started to charge the second led went off, the phone was about 15%. One led was left. About one hour later my phone reached 90% and the pebble shut down, wont turn on again.

This is really dissapointing because I barely got 2 charges from it, not 3 or 4 as other people here stated, which is exactly why I ordered 2 of these chargers.

Anyways,

I plugged it into my computer USB port and it has been charging since then. It has been more than 10 hours. The charging pattern is pretty strange:

2 hours: first led stop blinking
3 hours: second led stops blinking
10 hours: third led is still blinking

I've been thru a lot of portable chargers. from the cheapest ones to the expensives ones, but the pebble is a strange device.

I'll do more test in this week and hopefully to get 3 full charges out of it.

edit: btw I also ordered a Energizer Xpal 8001 charger for my desire. I got it for $50 in a woot.com daily deal. 8000mah capacity and can charge 12v and 19v netbooks as well.

I have 2 energizer chargers and they worked wonderfully in the 18 months I've been using them. Their capacity is REAL, shows actual remaining battery and the supplied cable are high quality ones.

Agreed, have done some proper tests and found the "2400ma" battery discharged 17% more than the standard HTC one, after a 1.5 hour movie run. Its pants... :mad:
 
I'd probably stick with the Pebble then, have to agree that the finish looks better on it.

Still testing my Powerbee properly, I've done more than 100% worth of battery and it's still at three lights so I'm hopeful that it's going to last longer this time.
 
Just ordered a Powerbee, purely on the basis that some feedback says that both Pebble and Powerbee are essentially high capacity batteries (5000mAh) and the PowerBee is the cheaper of the two, so opted for that.

As soon as it arrives, I will fully charge up the Powerbee (I'll time it to see how long it takes) and then I will test it with both my HTC Desire and my wife's Xperia X10 Mini, in the next few days.

I purchased the Powerbee couple days ago and hoping i should recieve it soon. Hopefully it will last more than 2 charges on the desire :)
 
Reporting back with more testing on my Powerbee. This is on my second run, i.e. the first time I completed charged the Bee myself. So far I've had:

Desire: 16% -> 75%.
I didn't want to leave it overnight so stopped at this point.
~850 mAh

Desire: 15% -> 99%.
Again I was going to bed and this was close enough for me.
~1200 mAh

Near the end of this charge the third light turned off, thoguh it came back again and disappeared a few times over the course of ten minutes or so, it must have been on the boundary.

Nintendo DS Lite: 20% -> 100%.
The 20% is an estimate based on the power light turning red at 30% and how long the battery normally lasts after that. This is a 1000 mAh battery.
~800 mAh

I realise batteries aren't generally their stated size in reality but I don't have any way to measure that. My Powerbee should have around 2000 mAh left in it right now, enough for another couple of Desire charges similar to those above. I still see two lights on it so that's a good sign.

Unfortunately I need the Bee to be fully charged for a camping trip this weekend so I'm not going to have a chance to drain it completely to find out if that is the case. But testing will continue over the weekend and next week :) .

It doesn't have specs yet, but might actually have higher capacity as it's bigger - of course you have to use their special back plate as well though, but might be good for when you know you won't be near a charger (i'm thinking festivals etc). just got this the other day, charged it fully 7.30am by 3pm it had gone down to a little bit. chraged it again and battery pretty much done about 4pm, a bit more calls and messages, baering in mind i.ve only charged once.
 
And...my Bee died after another 12% of charging my Desire. I make that ~3000mAh. That's well up from the first charge but still sucks. The second light dropped off ~5mins before it died so something is really not right with it at the moment. Perhaps further calibration will fix it but if it doesn't improve further then I will be sending it back.

Has anyone done proper testing with a Pebble yet? They should be the same but just wondering.
