Help Sending text to wrong person

Newbie
Ill be texting someone and I will try to respond to what they had previously written but sometimes it will send the that text to someone else...Anyone else have that problem?
 
yes, started happening after the last update, hopefully there is a fix for this coming in another update. Its annoying but not sure if anything can be done about it right now, been cautious as to what I send and have also been keeping threads deleting to avoid any potentially embarrassing incidents
 
go with what ^ said. before i did the MR2 update i did this every once in a while. most of the time it was because i was careless and didn't notice that i opened the wrong SMS.

but once i deleted most of my texts this problem wasn't happening. keep things clean!
 
I've had the same issue since I got my TB in mid June. I don't worry about it too much, though I have taken to double checking which conversation I'm in whenever I send a text. The main problem I've had other than that is receiving double or triple texts from people on at&t
 
This must suck when texting between your girlfriend and your wife at the same time. Ouch.

Would a 3rd party text client help? Like handcent? If this bug is strictly in the stock texting app then it probably wouldn't affect a 3rd party one
 
I am not sure if this is problem that was apparent in all Android devices or just the Nexus S, but they fixed it with 2.3.2. I am just not sure if that means that those of us on 2.2 still have the issue or what.

The only issue I have is that back when I used to use the stock SMS messenger, I would hit one conversation and it would open another. As far as I am aware of, it never sent it to somebody that it didn't say it would send it to. I have never had this issue since using Handcent.
 
if you want to keep your text messaging inbox clean & want to save the messages, I'd suggest the "SMS Backup +". it saves all your texts as gmail messages in a new separate label & marked as read. it's pretty convenient!
 
This happened the first time ever last week. I was replying to someone and was shocked to see it went to someone else! Thought it was my error, but had no clue how if happened. Now I know it was the glitch..
 
If I download something like Handcent, how can I disable the stock SMS? I had Handcent on my Eris but I would always receive double texts from both stock SMS and Handcent.
 
i was having this issue the last couple days using the stock app....i redownloaded gosms and havent had an issue since. i would be in one thread, reply and after it sent, i would be in another thread. such a pain.
 
Mine keeps doing this and its REALLY annoying. Almost to the point where I want to get a differ phone. Seems like this phone has so many new problems everyday. From not charging, to getting like 25 texts from differ times all at once, even though I've been on a full bar and 3g/4g area.
 
Yeah, this issue is so annoying. I start all my conversations off with a text of "hey" because 9 time sout of 10, that message goes to someone completely different. After that fist message I go back to the intended recipient and do the "hey" again and typically it successfully sends to them from that point on.

open the stock messages app, menus>settings>and there is something inside the settings to uncheck notifications, and also to turn off auto recieve messages. that way you wont have any messages in there.

sorry its been a while since i used the stock sense messaging, but i know it is in the settings for sure.
 
Just uncheck auto retrieve in the stock app, or rename or delete the stock app if you have system access in your file app.

Make sure auto retrieve is checked in the third party app.
 
GoSMS Pro worked for me. I don't know if I'd rather deal with the rebooting issues or this random texting crap. Probably rebooting since you can't send wrong things to wrong people if it reboots while texting!
 
Handcent with the 'Android' style, if you like the stock SMS/MMS app, and you won't have to worry about it. It's not a Thunderbolt problem. It's been happening on Android phones as long as I can remember.

Just seems certain commands on certain phones will trigger it. Some obviously easier than others.
 
was told it was a known issue and the last update in July was supposed to have fixed it...well for me made it worse and they have replaced my phone once already only to have the same issue...
 
Usually happens to me when i receive a text and respod quickly. Or if I want o text some one and i do it really quick. The glitch is annoying.
 
this 'glitch' is really going to be problematic real soon...

I've gotten lucky so far, for the most part. But it's just a pain.
