Sense 3.0 on DHD?

i have to admit this as well, HTC have started to lose me, after the HTC Hero debarcle in getting 2.1, I thought it was a blip but after the whole crap they released about our phones not being able to handle it? piffle. they've released too many phones too soon and have spread themselves too wide to give each handset the support each needs. at least with SE and Sammy have stepped up in getting their updates out ASAP and i'd imagine Moto will follow suit with Google now aquiring them.

I still love my DHD, and if needs be, I'll just root the beggar. But it shouldnt be that way....should it?

I understand that people may be hesitant in rooting, but can honestly say that it's the best thing you'll ever do with your phone... unleash the power of the DHD and get flashing different ROM's. As I've said on other threads, being able to flash a new ROM every now and then makes the 2 year contract a little more bearable... even if you only flash every3 months... that's like having 8 "new" phones over the 2 year contract... like a new toy to play with each time!

I am actually using the Sense 3.0 which was made for the Desire HD for around a month now. It is a very stable ROM. You need to be rooted to put it on. Look at my signature if you want it.

I am using the HTC's leaked version of the new Sense Rom... I have to say it is so much smoother than 2.1.

But no official update for Sense 3.0 I am afraid...

but is there going to be an official release? how can the desire get an update and not the DHD?

Don't know.. that is upto HTC to release it.

Also it is the Desire S, not the Desire that has sense 3.0

The Desire S just received the update to Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0.

That phone is almost exactly the same as the Desire HD, why wouldn't we get the update?

I'm sure that, from something else I read on here, we won't be getting 3.0, but 3.5 should be coming to our devices! :)

An official update might be on the cards guys...

The new RUU 3.12.405.1 was leaked with Sense 3.0 running Android 2.3.5.

This FB post might confirm it... English translation below:

This upgrade story has really become a nuisance. I call on everyone to stop liking that page. If numbers go down significantly maybe HTC will stop and think "what have we done in Turkey". If they don't say this, we'll all know where they stand.
,The following post quotes Dec. 15 as Sense 3 update for DHD and the next one comments on how many times they have been given new dates

Thanks to mike1986 and makbil over at XDA for the info above :)

I had a play with my sisters enw phone the other day, HTC sensation, and I like some of the new features...

Wondering if I root my DHD, will I lose everything again and have to spend hours and hours reinstalling all the apps and setting up accounts.

Also... which of the dozens of roms do I go for... never rooted a phone before.

The Ace Hack kit roots the phone, without you loosing stuff (I believe).

As for which ROM you go for... depends what you want from your device - you can get Sense based ROM's that are similar to the Stock HTC one or there are Vanilla Android ROM's (like CyanogenMod 7 or others) that are similar to what the Nexus runs.

The same questions being asked over and over I think. I have a copy, but it's older and I'm not sure how he'd feel about me sticking it on my dropbox account and in the thread.

Once I've got a spare moment, I'll drop him a PM. I've never dealt with him before so no idea what his response will be.

Hmm, I also used the Android Ace Hack Kit just this past weekend and I rooted for the first time ever. I also went to Android Revolution HD because I like the Sense stuff. I am also playing with overclocking now. Have people settled on one speed? I had it set to 1.8Ghz and it was noticeably faster....like REALLY fast. But it froze once last night.

Each handset handles overclocking differently so it's best to start off small, then work your way up to give yourself the best balance of speed vs stability.

1.8Ghz is obviously too fast so try something a little slower.

Regardless, over-clocking to any degree is going to shorten the life of the handset.
