Root Severe LauncherPro Lag with Gingerbread

Now that GB is rooted, can somebody freeze the stock launcher/apply some OC/memory tweaks and tell me if LauncherPro runs smoothly with GingerBlur?

In particular, are the "screen previews" still laggy?

I've been running GoLauncher on GB for the past 2 days with 9 home screens and there is no lag. I swore by LPP for the first 5 months I had my DX. But after I discovered GL I could never go back to LP unless the rewrite includes all the cool stuff GL does.

Seriously, this rewrite has been 'on it's way' for close to 4 months now. That's freakin crazy man.

Yeah i'm just waiting for go launcher to release the widgets like the promised b4 i switch over

They never gave a date, and I guess they never "promised" but they said they were working on it like a month or two ago.

Sorry to resurrect a half-dead thread, but LP totally blows on mine.

Just not happening with Gingerbread on my phone, I do use a lot of widgets, but I don't remember it ever taking so long to initialize widgets and custom icons. Once it gets everything in memory, it's smooth as normal, but every time I go to another app for any period of time, LP seems to stop cacheing anything, and so it's a 5 sec wait before I get my smooth scrolling and widgets back. I've tried screwing with the cache and memory settings to no avail.

Couldn't take it anymore so I froze it with Titanium and am using the blur home until I get a chance to mess with it. Doesn't matter how many widgets I have running on the blur home, it's smooth as silk, never a bit of lag when coming back to home from an app.

I think I did try Go home briefly, really liked it, but it started having the same problems. I think Gingerbread is killing the launchers memory allocations way too fast or something, so every time you get back to their homes, they have to reload everything like at boot. At least on mine anyway!

I tried GB for the second time yesterday hoping that LP updates would make it run better but it is still the same for me as it was when the first GB releases hit. Opening and closing are just too jumpy. Tried golauncher, it is nice but I have been using Lp for so long I really don't want to change so I am back to Rubix.

I have the same issues with Launchers. I am using GoLauncher right now but it does lag at times. Hoping for some improvement as I like swipe gestures!!

I can tell you right now, it's not specific to GB. I am still on Froyo and the same thing happens to me. It's frustrating, especially when trying to get to something in a hurry or when someone is looking over your shoulder. It seems to have gotten worse with the most recent update to customize the widgets. If and when it ever gets rewritten, I am hoping it all goes away as I love the set up and don't want to mess with another launcher or even blur. :(

LP running fine for me on 588. It was terrible on the first GB release.

Of course I am running s23 signal's modded LP, and not the stock one from the market.

I've learned that you should only have 4 columns in the LP homescreens, or you will get considerable lag. Running 5 or more really slows it down.
