I love the S3 but this screen cracking on its own is a very real problem. I spend half an hour on my phone looking at pictures, facebook and news while my girlfriend watched a tv program and there was definitely no crack.
When celebrity juice started I put the S3 on the arm of the chair next to me, the adverts came on and I had a hair stuck to my screen, wait it
do you have any picture? just curious to what it looks like
Best pic of mine I could get with my work blackberry.
I went out to move my car since I had parked it in 90 minute parking.
Texted my wife and put the phone in my right front pocket.
Moved the car, got out of the car and went to check her reply.
Looked at the screen with a WTF face.

I picked up the phone, out of its padded holder, in my tote, on the table, where I had put it an hour before. Screen cracked! It was a delightful three weeks that I had the phone (except that you have to downld an APP to get voicemail alerts!). (sigh).
Crack runs from upper-right, near power button, down to bottom edge, to the right of the go-home button.
I felt guilty about some imagined dropping until I saw all these. I took 2 pix of the screen, but am not yet allowed to post pix.
What's the consensus? --Call Samsung locator for a repair place near me (MA, USA), or send it to a place like irpairfast (irrepairquick?). I saw the YT clips, but I am not eager to try it myself.
Can we use mass action to get the repair at no charge? (There are plenty of reports of this in similar-Samsung-phone subforums here and other hosts.)
If Samsung is not likely to fix them, can anyone recommend a good indie repair place? thanks. (very nice, complete, well-run forum!)
Right, I already called my local Verizon Wireless store (MA, USA). They said that even had I purchased insurance, the cost would be only moderately higher than the deductible (I think he said $100), and that without insurance (we did not buy insurance), it would be "too expensive," and I should just buy a refurb on eBay or whatever.3 week old phone, I would take it to your service provider and let them handle/swap it. If they give a problem point them to this Forum and Thread for them to read the problem themselves. Also don't let them try to use insurance as that will cost you a deductible.
