Root Shipped with one processor offline Motion

So I got my Motion a few days ago and it is great. I mean minus the lackluster camera but all in all it is flipping great.

HOWEVER I ran several programs on here and several different cpu programs and found that cpu 1 ( which is the second core ) is OFFLINE.......

I would seem that they ship these phone with only one active core and the 2nd core is not ever active.

To test this I ran cpu intensive apps and games while running a recorder in the background and yet it never allowed the 2nd cpu to become active.

SOOOOO this leads somewhere.....

I downloaded System Tuner Pro. I find this the most comprehensive program. And I go to TWEAKS menu. Then CPU, then boot settings then "force all cpu's online". Select "on boot completed". And what happens. MAGIC true dual core cpu.

It would seem it is shipped shut off. This turns it on.

Hmm what is the Max processor speed? Also there are two version of firmware out...so.. telling us your Max CPU speed would help.

i switched it on...i do not know how to check to see what it's processing speed is...but let's see how the battery life is on this sucker now that we have both cores turned on :P

your battery life is gunna greatly diminish. android handled multicores just fine in gingerbread, in honeycomb it improved support by a lot. the second core will turn on when an app is coded to run both threads and needs it

Shabby is right i so the second processor going online when it was needed

It it running 1.51ghz max.

I have been running with both cores online with power set to on demand and after a 8 hr work day I have 40-50 percent battery life. This is with me using 4g alot and texting. Not too many phone calls as I generally only use it for data.

The battery only had a slightly higher draw when I turn the second core on. I would rather have it on and have a more responsive phone.

yes you missed something!! re-read the first post

I'm surprised nobody's done a benchmark with the core "inactive" and another with it forced active.

I'm willing to bet Shabby's correct and there won't be a difference.

I benched my phone on antutu, befor 2nd core was online and got 6969 now i turned it on and stops test at 2d and 3d graphics. Won't fully .but in quadrant its in 5000 block and kills htc one x. Side note how do i get html5 or adobe.flash to work?

i didnt say there wouldnt be a difference :P just improperly coded apps ;)
lol sorry if it seemed that I was putting words in your mouth.

I agree that Android is handling the second core as it sees fit.

In essence, under the loads of a benchmark, I'm willing to bet Android will use the second core; thus forcing it active when idle will have zero effect.

My opinion anyway, I don't have the tools mentioned in the OP to test.
