Root Should i think about unrooting then rooting?

it makes me alittle nervous after reading the comment

"I'm curious is this only a problem with unrevoked devices because unrevoked used the NV to root? Just wondering since revolutionary used Hboot to nand unlock the phone and I don't want to risk using cm7 and end up with a brick on my hands"

I dont want to flash cm7 one day and randomly get into the death bootloop any ideas or is this not how it is and i have nothing to worry about? If he is right should i unroot and reroot with revolutionary? I have had absolutely no issues with my phone using the unrevoked method im just looking into the future.

Nobody really knows what causes it or why. It is a small group of people in the much larger AOSP community who suffer from these problems.

Worry about the bootloop of death is one of the reasons I dont run AOSP, but many others here do and havent had issues yet.
 
We all take a risk rooting our phones. If something is going to happen then it will happen. In the end we all go the way we feel most comfortable. I use Xplod and have no issues.
 
i HAD my evo for almost 2 years before it finally failed on my (that was my fault and not the phone) i must say that i was on cm7 or some variant for about half of that time with never an issue. and i agree with rxoert and argedion in that it is only a small percentage that has it affected there phone, and we should all know the risk we take by rooting our phones. no need to unroot though. i think that it is a waste of effort. plus if you update to the latest ota then it will be even more of a pain to root it. unrevoked and aosp has never really been an issue as far as i know.
 
I agree with everyone here plus if you unroot you will still have the 2.10 hboot I do believe not sure if there is a way to get to 2.15 or 2.16 because the latest is 2.18 and the htcdev is the only way to unlock with a water mark. The watermark can be removed but with this method there seems to be many glitches to get it done. I have seen a lot more people asking questions on this than when revolutionary came out.

well once you unroot the phone, it can be updated to the current ota. but you will have to do it in steps. first to hboot 2.16 then to 2.18. but why do all that when you are already rooted. i do understand the fear of the bootloop of death, but like i said it really is a small amount of users who have experienced this.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. i did not think u could go to 2.16 while rooted or unrooted. Thought the only way to change was to jump to the latest. Is it possible to downgrade?
 
so if you root with revolutionary with h boot 2.16 then flash a froyo rom it will change the hboot to 2.10 or am i miss understanding what you are saying. Sorry just want to understand.

You can just flash the RUU for the latest ROM (or any ROM, really), no reason to upgrade in steps.

And if you're NAND unlocked, you can flash whatever HBOOT version you want.
