Show us your Desire Homescreens...

It looks like the settings widget is a product of SwitchPro .... I use it and it's brill, loads of choices for brightness and transparency helps it look the part against any background....
Agreed. I reinstalled it briefly and was able to reproduce Aleandroid's widget's look exactly.

I stopped using it myself because with the power control widget in the notification bar I of every ROM I used didn't really need it any more.

I'm posting my screens 'cos I'm not overly happy with my setup really. I've tried to ICS it a bit and ended up with a bit of a mishmash.

On the homescreen I've got today's weather twice and they don't agree with each other. The clock is from Extended Controls and the five-day weather is Fancy Widgets (which I bought when I thought I wanted to keep things Sense-like, which I don't any more).

My app icons aren't really cool . Not sure I'm fully utilising the usefulness of Widget Locker on my lockscreen either.

So any help / advice gratefully recieved!

Rob

You want to try and make the widget backgrounds transparent, that might improve things a bit.
Thanks, I've made what widgets I can transparent. The My Allowance widget *is* set as transparent, though doesn't seem very transparent to me!

Maybe it looks cramped because you've the indicator and a text description. I tend to use neither for a more minimal look, as i know what they are and can tell when they're on.

Yeah, good idea. I'll turn them off.

I've emailed the My Allowance author, who is looking at full opacity for a future update, which will complete that page!

You're going to get that. A lot of weather stuff out there on the web (not all, but so few tell you what they do) is just a straight reading of the GFS model output from the most recent run which is not a good way to forecast as things can change from one run to the next - especially the further ahead you go.

I quite like the WeatherPro app (paid for) which is by Meteogroup who do the Rain Today website (Will it Rain Today? | Rain radar for the UK | Going to rain? | MeteoGroup) and that radar is in the app. There is more to their forecasts than just a model grid point, and they also use the ECMWF model which *tends* to be the best performing one around.

I also have a direct web short-cut to the Met Office website forecast for my area.

It takes slightly longer to access than on the home screen, but it's a forecast - there's little point in looking at the phone to find out what the weather's doing now. The most useful thing to know there is will it rain soon, and for that I have Rain Alarm Pro on the lock screen and home screen.

Anyway, a slightly long-winded explanation, but ditch the (generally large) weather widgets and you free up a decent amount of home screen space.

Thanks, Adskankster, I've given it some thought and might well use Rain Alarm instead of my 5-day widget, and have a link to more weather if I need it. I'll miss weather animation but that's just a gimmick really!

More generally, I'd like to change my app icons to something opaque and consistent. Anyone recommend a good icon pack?

I know what you mean, they can look nice.

EDIT: fwiw, WeatherPro now has live wallpaper, though I've not looked at it (can't). I don't like their widgets either, though the app's nice.

Gone pretty white, in anticipation of the inevitable snow that will be upon me soon.

Look is mainly from cloudy.mtz for the Miui rom.

well changed again..

running GO Launcher, with again, wave launcher running recent apps as well as smooth calendar widget.

I did do an ICS style theme in the UOT kitchen, but I could never get the colours to work 100% as certain apps in the notification bar used different colour text that would blend sometimes..

Not bothered with a weather widget as I run it straight from notification area now.
