As a point of interest, why does anyone care. I'm happy with my phone, Iphoners are happy with theirs.

Does it really matter?

I'm being sarcastic about being excited about my crummy little phone. I'm just having trouble deciding which phone to upgrade to. I have verizon, whats the best out there or going to be out there?

wait a couple weeks and get the X.

i think itll be fun to show the guys i work with my x when i get it here in a few weeks, itll just dwarf their iphones and THEN ill bust out some flash love (if it has 2.2) to rub it in further..

It really wouldn't if the typical iPhone users weren't so smug about it. I thankfully don't have to deal with them, but I have a friend who uses a Mac and at the mere mention of which is better, he'll bash the life out of a PC. The vast majority of Apple users seem to have developed this sense of superiority with their products and that's what makes them a pain to deal with. Close-minded through and through.

Let's be honest. Many Apple haters would jump on the iPhone bandwagon if it came to VZW.

First, let me start by saying this is my rant and my opinion. I look forward to friendly opinions and debates but please no bashing. I have been a loyal VZW customer since 2003, and when the iPhone came out, I was envious, but I stuck by VZW and their crappy (at the time) phones.

Then Android came and I loved it! I bought an HTC Droid Eris and got 2 of my family members to get the Motorola Droid. But after all the issues I've seen with getting my Droid Eris to be updated to the latest OS and now its at EOL, I feel like I was burned by Google in a way.

iPhone users get software updates. My best friend has a first generation iPhone, and she just updated to the iOS 4 (I think that's the name) the newest Apple software update. Even though Apple comes out every year with a new iPhone model, she doesn't feel the need to upgrade because she's happy with her phone and updated software.

Meanwhile, there are still Android users with 1.5, 1.6, and the 2.1 So who's to say when 2.2 comes out the older phones- maybe even the Motorola Droid won't get the 2.2 update, the 2.3 update, and future updates to come.

I'm really weighing my options here, I love the android phones, the openness of it and the Google sync capabilities, but I was burned so badly with the Droid Eris I don't know if I can invest in another Android phone and get a 2 year contract (I just got out of my contract thankfully)

I keep hearing about 2.2 but even the Droid X is being announced tomorrow with 2.1 which to me is frustrating.

I know phones aren't meant to last but I want something I know I can stick to for 2 years and not have it break down on me. {/end rant}
 
The only reason I would jump on the iPhone is for the unlimited internet..You have to remember that the droid line is still in adolescence and having the kinks worked out. whereas my brother and step-father both have the 3gs..both hate em. I'm working at Best Buy while I'm at college and I'm right next to the Cell Phones and I hear people come in all day long complaining about the many iPhone issues every day. Since I'm so close people come to me to rant as well. Thanks Apple.

Are you sure? 1st gen iphones are not supported by iOS4.0.

And besides, iphone software updates are nothing major. At least not to the extent whereby they include new features that enhances your experience. OS4.0 is only an exception because after 4 years the finally released a phone and OS that can multitask and allows custom wallpapers without jailbreaking.

Never had this issue myself. The most recent device discussion that I recall involves an in-law aunt showing off her Incredible. Maybe you're just hanging around the wrong people? :p

Who cares? Better is always subjective. Those that don't realize that don't get my attention. They're just not worth holding a discussion with. There's a reason for the old saying about arguing with a fool. Unless you enjoy frustration and ranting on forums, that is.

I'm not 100% I think it is, but it could be the 3G *unsure now*....

thanks for replying guys, I just really needed to vent. I preordered and iPhone 4 but part of me is reeeeally reuctant to change carriers. I hope today's Droid X presentation blows everyone away....
