SicOpat's KI4 Rom released

Do you get the extra options in the power menu?
I just get the standard 4 options and no more
Did you get CWM Manager? I cant find it anywhere

EDIT: Seems like Sicopat forgot to do something in the original download, and he's just re-upped the rom .zip.
I'll have to give it another try. Bugger. Just as I've configured everything again! :(

CWM was included.. I have an icon in application drawer "CWM" .
Power menu looks the same, not sure what has supposedly been changed

Yes. It'll be as if you instantly stepped back in time. :)

What is the point of a Titanium backup over a CWM backup then?

Just getting to grips with Sicopats ROM now.
He uploaded an incorrect rom initially which I had downloaded, and this could not have the theme applied and didnt have the enhanced power menu.
So I had to redownload it again (another 320Mb!!!) and I only found this out after I'd set everything back up again.

Never mind.

Having a dabble now. I will let you know my findings....

Titanium will let you restore applications between ROMS and/or wipes. If you have a zillion apps installed and want a quick way to restore them after flashing another flavour of ROM then Titanium will help.

But I thought a CWM Recovery backup would restore everything for me, as Slug and shotgun mentioned above.

Are you saying if I restore my CWM backup taken when I had Revolution installed, I wont have any of my apps on it as I not have Sicopat, and did a full wipe before installing?

CWM is like a snapshot in time. It will restore you phone exactly to a certain point in time. MOD, Apps, wallpaper, bookmarks, finger print smudges... etc.

Titanium is typically used for restoring applications and application settings, even between different flavours of ROMs

So when you had to install SicOpat for a 2nd or 3rd time you were probably getting sick of going to the market and downloading and setting up your applications correct? Titanium would have helped you restore your applications, games etc. Now say you got sick of all this SicOpat business and wanted Revolution again.. Provided you created a CWM restore point when you had Revolution you could roll back/restore to that point and your phone and everything would be as it was when your created that CWM restore point.

Cheers snazzy mate. Thats just what I wanted to hear.
I'll probably go back to Revolution after I suss out Sicopat's ROM, and switch between the 2 when I get bored

What the hell - now I got the bug, I'll probably do Villain, Modaco, Cognition, the whole kaboodle!

You are very welcome. If you use CWM to create restore points you could flip between roms with a couple of clicks. Nifty!

I'm just flipping back to revolution via CWM..........
worked like charm! cheers fellas

Consider me Rom-hooked! I'm SO glad I got this phone, and even more glad I decided to root it. I cant put the bloody thing down any more!!!!
:D

Thinking about Slug's comment in this thread

Boot into recovery, restore one of the problematic backups, but wipe cache and dalvik-cache before rebooting the system normally. That might be all that's needed

On the subject of swapping over roms via CWM restore, should the above be done before installing the other rom's zip?
If so, would anything be lost?

I usually do this before installing a new rom or even a rom update. Some rom zips eg revolution do this for you so you dont need to.

Yes, me too mate, but should i also do this before restoring from a CWM recovery point when i'm switching from say sicopat to revolution? or does the CWM backup include the areas that the above would clear out anyway?

I'm pretty sure your cache and dalvik cache gets backed up so it would just replace this, therefore no need to wipe? I never wipe before a restore and i've never had problems.

I only suggested wiping the cache partitions as a possible solution to Shotgun84's abortive restore(s). It's not something that ordinarily needs to be done when restoring a nandroid.

Anyone noticing quick battery drain on ki4. I flashed back to kh3 and it seems much better.

No. If anything my battery life has improved coming from VillainROM 2.3

This is my setup now:
Baseband: XXKI1
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-ninphetimine-2.1.3+ninpo@titan #26
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4

Hmm. I'll give it a few cycles. Thanks for the reply.
