Root signal bars

ok first of all you would be right to assume that i dont , second -you lost me at grab 7zip, i just learned how to root and flash the evo and im not really computer savvy

7zip is an archive manager for your pc that is easier to use in my opinion than say winzip...maybe that pdf will help you more...

Grab 7zip itll make life easy. Copy your framework-res.apk from system/framework to your laptop, open up with 7zip, navigate to res/drawable-hdpi and find the pngs for signal and edit them with something like paint.net, place them back in drawable then navigate up a couple folders it will ask you to update the archive say yes, then push the file back to where you got it and update the permissions to match everything else in there and reboot. Make a back up first please. Dont want you blaming me for having to restore to a 6 month old backup because something went wrong. Honestly I usually just update the pngs in the rom zip resign and reflash but it should work both ways...flashing would remove any mods you have made but I keep a running mod zip so that doesn't happen...you could always make your new framework into a flashable zip if you know how which I assume you dont but this is getting long and above the scope of most casual users.

If any one sees an error please correct. I'm a tinkerer and dont usually write down what I do lol.

Oh another way is to take another theme.zip and edit it to your liking and flash, this may be easier for most.
how do i copy my system/framework to my pc from my phone?

I might be beating a dead horse, but I still don't quite see what you hope to accomplish by doing this. There's nothing wrong with the pngs - it's how the signal is calculates so that it knows which png to pick. If you modify the lower-signal pngs to match the ones with more signal, how do you expect to know the difference between when you really have signal and when you don't? I'm certainly not trying to be mean or anything, but I just want to caution you that it's designed the way it is for a reason. That being said, this is a good exercise for learning how to modify things in framework-res. Just remember to make a nandroid backup, first :). I'll let evomattnc take it from here. He's doing a good job explaining it.

Lol he's been warned now I'm helping him eff stuff up :)

Okay, fair enough. Breaking stuff with a little guidance is a great way to learn stuff, as long as you backup, first. And, no, I'm not kidding.

No I full on agree, I've said it before and say it again, learn by doing. Though in reality we aren't breaking anything :) but I do plenty lol
