Root Significantly improved batt life

youdoofus

Android Expert
Now im fully aware that the results of a kernel varies SEVERELY from phone to phone, and from how one user uses their device compared to another, but heres what i got from using this kernel: 2.6.35.10-SavageKernel-V1.6-BFS-HAVS #3. Im at 6 hrs off charger and have 82% left.... ive browsed a lil bit, and sent and rec'd about 40 total texts so far today.... good stuff so far, impressive

Check my pics...
-80% and just over 9 hours unplugged.
-46% and at about 27 hours unplgged.

moderate use...nothing heavy.
Was using stock ROM with setcpu when this pic was taken.

2 plus days unplugged and @ 46%... i do use my phone more than just a paperweight.... is there anyone that doesn't come home at the end of the day and plug in... it's like clockwork... i crawl into bed and the tv comes on until i get out in the AM... i can go a day away from home and still have battery, then... 'tis a good day... i would have to tie my hands behind my back to not reboot, flash, someting or other.... in 27 hours... geez... maybe one too many 4loko for me...

funny, as it seems almost as like a competition... I M O, bottom line... if you're not DEAD at the end of the day, your battery lasted long enough......
TODAY IS 4LOKO DAY... HAVE 2 ON ME...

had to reboot today.... which we all know, resets battery... should be a fix, right???? anywho... if i can do with what i want, when i want, as much as i want and not die... % don't mean sh*t to me....... I M O... we all gotta catch some zzz's right, why not my phone while i am... sure 'nough the wife get's just as much... "wink, wink"
EDIT - that would be like constantly watchin the gas gage... "oh, geez, i just went 16.8 miles and my gage went down 1/8th and a 1/4..... what am i gonna do.... what's the sense...

Do you have tiger/Adonis blood by any chance?

I Lol'd

Plus, toggling on data and auto-sync when I need it has really improved my battery. If I'm expecting an email, i'll check it, but otherwise, just checking a few times a day is plenty for me. Texts and calls still come in so... that's what really counts.

How's battery life been treating you over these last few days?

It's been really good. I have been recommending this to all my android peers.

And I still think my biggest drain on battery is just being at my house with no signal, because when I do use data it is a pretty big drain. But it lasts all day and that's what matters.

Great advice, so thanks again. (:

No problem. Glad it worked out well for you.

Thanks for the info....been looking for a good kernel and this one does the job quite nicely. Been using the phone all day and I am not even at the halfway point yet.

I'm running SavagedZen 1.1.0 BFS at the moment. Unplugged for 7 hrs with moderate use and at 66%. I'm on the verge of switching back to CFS...I just don't feel like my battery life is as good.

in total agreement w/ Mr. Ed, these kernels are just funny lil things.... my phone on the cfs version im currently using killed my batt in no time flat!!! i guess my phone doesnt like things to be completely fair, and prefers a good brain f_ck scheduler.... i guess the device emulates the user LMAO!!!

im at 3 hrs 59 min and 90% batt.... i guess thats acceptable to me.... for now lol im more than likely gonna still forage around for other kernels, but at least im getting FAR more life than b4!!!

hey how you doing youdoofus, ived been trying to find that kernel but it seems impossible since the link at xda website isnt working -.-.. so do you happen to kno where else i can get it?

here's the link to the page will ROMs and kernels (for future references, i have it bookmarked)
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html

and here's the link to the DL for the kernel
Savaged-Zen (MOD) Mirror System

hmmm... I can't remember if you wanted savaged-zen or savage kernel, but the link to SZ is there, and the links to savage Kernel are in the kernel page.

Hope that helps.

im lookin for this one 2.6.35.10-SavageKernel-V1.6-BFS-HAVS #3, i cant see the same exact one on the kernel page =/, unless im looking wrong

uhhhhh, my cam has always worked.... did you wipe cache ald dalvik cache? if not, do so, reinstall your rom, then the kernel in the same recovery and try it again. if youre on the cfs, give it a run for about 6-10 hrs and if you have good batt life... well thats sweet lol, if not do the wipe process again and try the other one... apparantly my device likes its brain to be f**ked on schedule.... or something.... ;)
