Simple question from a prospective GNex owner

If you could go back to release day would you purchase this phone again? My DInc is crapping out and I can't put off upgrading any longer. Have been reading all the pros and cons and just want assurance I'm doing the right thing by going GNex. Thanks!

Considering I got mine when Google Play "released" it, then yes, I'd do it again. :p

But I'd order the extended battery and desktop dock right away, instead of waiting.

To avoid the early upgrade fees, I waited to upgrade my DROID X to the VZW GSN until April 1.

I have not had the one-way phone issue, but 4G is very flaky, with frequent dropped connections. My phone is permanently on 3G unless I need speed. (I don't root or try to upgrade with leaked upgrades.)

Once the 4.0.4 upgrade comes out, I will evaluate how well the radios perform, then I can fully answer your question.

Right now, all I can say is that it is still a much better phone than the DROID X as far as WiFi stability, bluetooth stability, and 3G stability. (Sorry, I can't compare to the DInc.) I have never had a dropped call while on 3G. The ICS is smooth and the phone itself is sexy as hell, too.

I would buy it again, but I haven't had any of the signal issues.
Battery life doesn't matter to me because I can always charge it.
I don't know if I have the mic cutout problem or not because I always use a headset.

I got mine unlocked about a month ago online after finally giving up on ATT ever offering with a contract. I came over from an iPhone to give you some background. I would still buy this phone today after a month. I understand that the Verizon version has some flaws, and that is the only thing I would be concerned about. But if you can wait, you might want to check out the S3

I have flashed the radios from the latest OTA that went out to like 5 phones last week, and it will improve signal (and by extension, battery life) when it finally rolls out if my experience is typical. So that is a bright side to the less than stellar radio issues.

I would absolutely not hesitate to buy this phone again. Nexus is STILL, hands-down, the best phone out there on Verizon IMHO.

I have some data connectivity issues, but I've never a dropped call. Every phone model is going to have something to complain about; I mean, there is no such thing as a perfect phone. Considering the almost bewildering array of features and capabilities the Nexus has, though, I would buy it again. On Launch Day.

And yes, WITH the Extended Battery :)

I am on the Verizon version with the extended battery. I have also rooted it and am running liquid's rom. I flashed the 4.0.3 radios and since doing that my phone hasn't had any data issues. Also I get great battery life. So in short I would buy this phone again in a heart beat. It is so easy to root and customize. It's the best phone I have ever owned.

NO I WOULDNT.. i would have waited anohter month and got it for 100 bucks off of amazon.. lol but i like the phone a lot

I would certainly buy this phone again. I don't have any of the issues that some have unfortunately come across. I got mine on launch day and would do it again! AOKP ROM w/ LeanKernel and LeanTweaks!

Don't want to hi jack this thread but i currently have a DX running like a champ but want to upgrade. Would you wait if you were me? Or go with the Nexus?? Im on verizon BTW.

I wouldn't buy it on release day because I didn't before. I preordered the week before release and would do it again.

On Sprint Btw, so I have not had to wait for the 4.0.4 update like the poor VZW folks are.

I didn't get it on release day but I'm on my second gnex and have had many Verizon 4g phones. Razr,bionic,tbolt,rezound... if you like your strong and dependable 4g I wouldn't get this phone. Now that I have another gnex I remember why I got rid of the first one..... other than that, get an extra battery and you're all set, awesome phone in everything else.

Absolutely I would still do it -- I had to have a new phone, and my biggest fear was that a wave of better phones would come out right behind it. But it's been 5 months and there's still not another phone I'd rather have. I've been able to enjoy getting familiar with ICS all this time, without even having to sacrifice speed or performance.

They have been amazingly slow in coming out with other ICS devices. That will be when it gets difficult -- when there's truly a wide variety of choices on the latest operating system.

The biggest thing that burns me up is Verizon -- them holding off the update is infuriating. I will switch from Verizon as soon as it's remotely comparable to go to Sprint.

Quick question for the more experienced folks here - does the Google nexus (Sprint version, if that matters) support MAP profile on BT (for SMS/Email transfer to car BT system)?
