Since Verizon forced my hand...

Looks like I'm moving on from my Bionic. To give my amazing plan that I currently have with Verizon a stay of execution, I upgraded to the ever amazing, one and only iPhone. Wow, I couldn't say that with a straight face. Nah, of course it's the Galaxy S3.

I didn't want to. I have 5 lines of unlimited data, and every single line has a phone they love on it. But I had one upgrade lingering with 3 upgrades next year, and because I didn't have enough time to figure out how I want to proceed with my association with Verizon, I decided to use some leverage and use the upgrade to a phone that I can be happy with until all lines are out of contract, and I have time to figure out what the right course of action will be.

Is this post necessary? No, not really. But despite a pretty long absence, I've been a very active member here, been a firm supporter of the still excellent Bionic (which I'm handing off to my brother, so I'll still have the need to hang around here), and I figured I'd share because you'se are some of my fav people. That and my GS3 should arrive any moment now and I'm trying to kill time and my excitement is becoming harder and harder to contain.:D

Consider this post reported as spam...hahaha jk Yankee. You've been a great help to the bionic sub forums. The SG3 is an awesome phone. I still have a few more months until I make my decision. Getting ICS on the bionic has made me a little more patient so I'm in no rush.

Good luck buddy! Don't be a stranger!

The iPhone reference alone deserves to be reported. lol

My GS3 is charging and I'm currently performing all the necessary backups to my Bionic. Despite hearing a few horror stories about those who activated the GS3 after 6/28 despite not upgrading after, I'm going to call it in anyway. Sure, I could bring it into work and do it myself, but I'm curious to see what they say about my $20 off data promotion that I have on all 5 lines.

I don't suspect a satisfactory response this first time out, but that's why I chose to upgrade. It buys me some time to gather information and allows them to offer other suitable ones until it comes time to upgrade again. I don't want to leave Verizon, I don't want a better deal that what I already have (especially as there really isn't), I just want everything to stay as it is. If it weren't for this, I'd be holding onto my Bionic, which has been everything I needed it to be.

Shameless plug alert: we sell the Bionic for $29.99 at Costco now, comes with the leather carrying case, all-in-one charger, and screen protectors. We also give you a mail-in-rebate to get the extra battery and battery charger so you can have a fully charged phone and extra battery when you wake up in the morning. NOW that's spam. lmao :p

You're making a mistake. Good luck with it.

I wasn't aware of the encrypted bootloader when I ordered it and I can tell you that leaves quite a bad taste in my mouth. I've also seen some call quality issues expressed, even with some I've sold myself. It's still very early, but that particular complaint seems very rare in comparison, but I'll get the chance to explore that on my own.

As far as the bootloader, it hasn't kept my from enjoying my Bionic and I don't suspect it will with the GS3. But there really isn't a better phone on the market, and I think that will remain for quite some time. Even if I decide it's not the phone for me, one the other 4 lines on my plan would love to have it, and I could always go back to my Bionic.

due to data drops on 3 bionics, I briefly thought about paying full freight for an S3...until I saw how crazy-saturated the colors are on that sucker! plus, it's slippery--if I don't keep it always in a case, it will get dropped before long. no thanks. close, but no cigar.

What are you going to do with your BIONIC? I need a dev phone lol

(I bricked my BIONIC Monday night proving that the latest ICS leak is a one way street - once you're on it you can never go back to GB - and Good Riddance, I say! I'm already back up and running, but it would be nice to have a second phone so I can really screw around and not lose my primary phone....)

You're making a mistake. Good luck with it.

Amen - for more reasons than one....

I'm betting he really got a iPhone and is just trying to clear his conscious:D

ROTF! Hit...Nial...head....

You'll love the ICS OTA when it is pushed - I have yet to see anyone who is on the beta leaks complain of continued data drops.
