Help Sirius/XM not working!?

Through twitter I just got the streaming fixed from sprint. Call them ( i did it over twitter) and mention the issue you are having. Mention the fix listed in their system below

CE Device portal listed as 'HTC EVO 4G (A9292) - Streaming multimedia applications receiving errors on software version 3.70.651.1'

They do something, and without rebooting my phone, or any changes on my part sirius xm now works.

I hope this helps.

I called sprint and after about 30 minutes of talking to clueless folks i got someone that actually listened to me. After speaking with her and giving her the description "Streaming multimedia applications receiving errors on software version 3.70.651.1'" she was able to find the solution and fix it.

If they are jerking you around be nice and ask them if they can search for certain issues and give them that description.

Thank you Damink23!

Edit: If you go down the road of doing this yourself I was told using the MSL code unlocks the phone and voids any warranty. Not sure how true or how easy it would be to revert back, but beware.

That's total nonsense they fed you.

The MSL code is what they've given me often to get to the edit portion of ##DATA# with new phones to ensure setup is correct.

And - it has to be re-entered each time.

That's a scare tactic to keep you from going into deeper service menus on their phones - places where there be dragons and only the most experienced belong.

If a call to Sprint fixes this, no need to do it yourself though - I think that makes 100% perfectly good sense.

Rooting does void your warranty - we just don't care, often Sprint doesn't either.

Unroot it before you take it back is the main thing people do.

I've already emailed the Sprint CEO that I've rooted mine. I'm sure he lost sleep over it. :)

i called Sprint today to get the MSL and do this fix. i did the fix while a Sprint tech on my land line listened in. no good. then she told me to reboot, uninstall Sirius then reinstall . still no good. She transferred me to someone else. She told me the only thing i could do was a reset. i did. and lo and behold sirius works again.

even though a Sprint employee immediately gave me the MSL AND said numerous customers were calling to get it for this reason AND basically talked me thru the fix AND neither of the 2 people i spoke to mentioned any warranty voiding, i am still terriffied my warranty and monthly insurance plan are now null and void. my evo is only 3 weeks old. i wrote down the original numbers be4 i changed them. would anyone suggest changing them back should i ever go in for service? i am freaking out. any body have any words of wisdom?

thanks

The use of your MSL code in no way voids your warranty.

Having Sprint tech support walk you through things on your phone using the MSL is 100% ordinary.

The tech responsible for starting this rumor needs to shot.

You, on the other hand, need to be - Welcomed to the forums!

You came to the right place to get the square deal on the info, the straight dope, the lowdown and the truth.

You are fine. Your warranty is fine. You harmed nothing. You were not misled.

Thank you!!!! i just joined this site within a few days of getting my evo because i knew i would need it....would you (or anyone else) recommend changing the fields back to original settings if i ever went in for service?

Nah.

As others have noted - what they had you do was they could do automagically, it just depended on the tech. Your phone's not in any funny state, needing to be hidden, concealed, or anything nefarious like that.

It had a service action, a problem was resolved. If possible, forget it by morning, really.

Besides - service tends to be quite able to do a hard reset, a software re-install and another trick that will set everything deep inside back to out-of-box, minor bugs and all.

Your phone is not the odd man out right now, it's all good.

Thank you VERY VERY much

A lot of people seems to be having trouble getting Sprint tech support to give them the MSL, but even more people have no trouble at all (see comments in post below), so I would recommend to just ignore whatever Sprint employee refuses to give it to you, and just call back or ask someone else, chances are the next person will give it to you, no need for installing MSL reader or the other steps.

UPDATE 2: How To Get Thumbplay Working over 3G/4G after Sprint Update

Eric

I've had the same problem as everyone else (Sirius XM works on WiFi, not on 3G/4G). I called Sprint and made reference to the "Streaming multimedia applications receiving errors on software version 3.70.651.1" quotation. I took 2 transfers, but I got to a rep who had me shut down the phone, boot it up, and receive an update. It worked immediately.

If you're going to call Sprint to get that MSL password, might as well let them do it for you. The guy said that it's a known problem and they have a "tweak" for the software update.

So all i will need is my msl code and address from Sprint, then follow the steps?

Ps. I am coming from the Evo Shift Forums, were i started a thread about this topic, didnt think about checking the Evo forums first. Thanks for all your guys help in advance!

Thanks guys for getting to the bottom of this and guiding us thru the instructions/steps to fix this.

I'm enjoying my wunder radio app once again.

WOOP WOOP WOOP!!!

Once again i am enjoying my HOWARD!!!!

Thanks to everyone, but i got one last question.

Say i switch phones, from my current evo s to another evo s due to some defects, on the new one that i activate on my line, will it have a different msl number then the original? or will i be able to use the same msl code on all phones on my line? just wanted to know in advance, thanks for your help!

I did this fix and it worked right away. I also accidently changed my RSTP Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0 too, anyone know if that is going to be a problem? I have no idea what it is.

Adam

Remote transport streaming protocol.

Early reports by other users report no issues changing rtsp also. So, it doesn't hurt for sure and too soon to say if it helps any.

Used by some media feeds.

here's the e-mail for the application provider:

sxmmobile at quickplay.com

I'm having issues even getting ON.. and have done everything here people posted (I'm on a Motorola Milestone)

Thanks for this, I called tech support, quoted this fix, and they pushed out a new PRL. That didn't work so they then had me update my system profile ... bingo, Sirius XM streaming again!

This PROXY entry also caused issues for programs like XiiaLive and other MP3 stream players. It was almost like Sprint was trying to block all of that!

I also have the SiriusXM app and since clearing those entries out, I can now get the streams again, but I am having another issue with programs in the foreground failing to provide notification sounds. I am new to the forum and just starting to dig around to see if others are having or have found a fix for this same problem.
