Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

Beta6 is very good, even on its defaults. Download the Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script from here and run it before flashing the new kernel and you shouldn't have any problems.

Fwiw, beta11 hasn't given any problems yet. Battery is at 84% after 10h 3m off-charge. No issues in ordinary use... I'll give it a stress test in a while and see if the stability holds up then.

Cheers, just did it now, now just have to wait until the phone is fully charged so we can see how it goes. Never have I ever wanted for tomorrow to come so soon so I can be at work tinkering with my phone!

Your battery drain seems awesome! Just so I can get a rough idea, how heavy a user are you? Or maybe as an example, say if you were browsing the net for a full solid hour how much would you see your percentage drop? At the moment I use the net and search as quickly as I can then shut off the display because I'm afraid of watching the percentage drop too fast. I think I'd drop around 7-10% an hour browsing the net or texting solidly, just trying to work out if that's normal or not.

I'm not a heavy user, but the phone is. ;) Lots of autosync going on in the background, with resulting reading of and replying to Tweets/SMS/email/PMs, plus I'm forever checking that advice I give someone isn't complete Horlicks - the old memory ain't what it used to be. :o Not a lot of browsing though.

I'm going to assume beta 12 wasn't very good as the changelogs already up for 13.

Could be, or b12 has nailed some major issues and development is moving on. I see several new features making an appearance, and reports on XDA are likening b12 to b6 for responsiveness and lack of lag.

Well, I tried both Siyah 2.2 beta11 and beta12 with the Ultimate Kernel Script wipe on both and I'm afraid my vertical scroll app drawer in Launcher Pro was very jerky on lulzactive and smartassv2. The lag did disappear with performance and ondemand. So maybe gokhanmoral is getting close.

For the time being I'm retreating back to good old beta6 which has proved very reliable in both performance and battery.

I still dont know where im going wrong with battery. I had wi fi switched off when i went to sleep along with data and checked my batt stats. went to sleep with 60% , woke up 4 hours later with 34%.

Using Settings > Applications > Battery usage > Select top graph... are you getting a lot of "Awake" time when the screen is off?

If so, is there anything that stands out in BetterBattery Stats under Partial Wakelocks?

Our resident "Wakelock" expert is hawker if you are.

Try keeping wifi on "sleep never when plugged in" and keep data on.
as long as you dont have weather/email polling ridiculously often, you should only lose at most 8-10% overnight. I only lose 2-5% overnight.
install cpuspy and when you examine your phone in the morning make sure it has mostly been in deep sleep, and compare your wakelocks to your screen on bar chart. If they basically coincide and a majority of the cpuspy analysis was in deep sleep then there is not much else you can do. if it is not going into deep sleep then we need to find out why this is not happening.
if you are getting lots of wakelocks outside of screen on time then examine betterbatterystats to investigate the culprit. it is more then likely to be one of your homescreen widgets or some sort of background sync, or maps/latitude trying to establish your location.

Beta13 now. Unlucky for some?

I'm testing it out right now. Seems good up to now.
Home screens and app drawer seem smooth. Also seems to be switching between 1+2 processors as expected.
Browsing seems good too.
Its certainly on a par with beta6.

I dont think there will be much happening on the ROM front for a while, so I might pop Dlev3.1 back on for a bit.

So much for me giving all this kernel testing a miss for a few weeks! I just cant resist it!
:D

Siyah 2.2 beta 13 is up! :D

Very early indications on lulzactive, Dynamic hotplug, stock voltage, shows no problems so far.

Now to see about performance and battery life.

Go for it hawker... you know you want to. :p

(I see you already have old boy :):):) )

Blimey, you're on the ball. Literally just checked but didn't seem to be a download, just the change log......

I was going to test this on Dlev, but I lost my CWM backup of it. GRRR!
I cut+paste my Dlev backup from internal sd to external, and all it did was create the folder. None of the files were copied and were lost.
So I guess I'm sticking with CRR for a while now. Ho hum!

back onto beta13, all seems well. Lets see how the battery is now. its on 89% at the moment, so lets see what its on in the morning.
sleep tight fellas! :)

Siyah 2.2 beta 14 up now!

Has replaced beta 13 that has now been withdrawn from use.

I wonder if I should wake hawker up and tell him. :D

UPDATE

BLN working on beta 14. That's a plus I suppose. :)

App drawer scrolling is jerky with lulzactive and smarassvs governors but OK with ondemand and ondemandx for me.

Ive since turned Background data off and am using Juice defender to regulate what type of connection is available at what times.

Seems most my wakelocks were Sync related. Lets see how that goes.

I lost 3% overnight on beta 13 on lulzactive so not bad.
Not noticed any problems with it to be honest albeit bln had not been tested as I have no friends!

I'll put on beta 14 on now to put old ironass' mind at rest. :)

Edit: finding beta14 quite laggy in home screen scrolling.I found beta13 ok but concerned as to why it's been taken off the site so it's back to good old beta6 for me. I found this to be the best one yet.

I'm now using beta6 on luzactive governer with 1200 max.
seems to be performing very well, and i'm finding battery drain is certainly less during heavy use. I cant say I'm noticing any performance hit at all with this restriction in place. homescreen navigation seems smooth, videos also. Perhaps there will be a noticeable difference in HD type games, but I've not got a single game on my handset, so thats not a problem for me! :)

That has to be a record for the shortest amount of time a kernels been on my phone. Just flashed beta 14 let my phone boot up, clicked on my AF shortcut and my phone crashed. So back to 12.

You know me by now... always the awkward so-and-so. :)

Beta14 went on last night. I've found no lag issues anywhere, nor any crashes. I wonder if it's launcher-dependant? I'm using ADW EX. Stock clocks (200/1200MHz), smartassV2.

I'm on go launcher.
I'll stick with beta 6 until beta 1532 comes out!. :)
It seems do be doing quite well for me on luzactive 1200

I'm using Beta 6 with 200-1600 on SmartassV2 and I've not been having any problems at all. The battery drain has been good too: before I started hitting various apps (Twitter, Facebook, etc) at lunchtime I was down to about 92% after 5.5hrs.

is it too early to tell on battery slug?

7h 23m off-charge and battery is at 81%.

I think there's a minor issue with BLN - clearing notifications doesn't always also cancel the lights. I've rebooted once and that fixed it for a while but it's back to staying on again.

I thought well if it's good enough for slug.... Flashed b14 and lots of lag again. So like hawker back to b6 for me too.

Has anyone tried downloading torrents on 12. It took about 2 hours to get to 8% of a 700mb download. I first thought maybe 3 had got the hump because I took the piss out of their all you can eat data by using my phone as a hotspot constantly all week. But put beta 6 back on and am on 7% after 5 minutes.

Siyah 2.2 beta 15 is up!.... for better or for worse. :)
