Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

I reported the haptic feedback issue, and Gokhan has taken the kernel off for the time being.

Gokhan has fixed the issue, and is due for release in the next 10 minutes.

EDIT:
Updated 2.6.8 now available.
I will test it out tomorrow, as I want to see how NEAK 1.3.2 fares today+tonight with regards to battery.
 
Seems that gokhanmoral has temporarily withdrawn 2.6.8 whilst he works on the haptic feedback.

Only on 1st coffee and there's new versions of two great kernels out! :D

They're like buses. You wait for ages and then two come along.

Both NEAK and Siyah 2.6.8 will have to go some to beat 2.6.7. Have had the best results I've ever had from it.

For anyone flashing a kernel for the first time, they could do a lot worse than 2.6.7.

I need more coffee! ;)

I did say That I was only on my 1st coffee!

Only firing on 2 cylinders at the mo: ;)

Will decide after 3rd coffee.

Meanwhile, keep the reports on this and N.E,A.K. 1.3.2 coming in... as I'm easily led. :rolleyes:
 
Is there a reason why I can't download the zip files direct from my phone? it just says failed, without downloading anything :-(
 
OK... coffee has kicked in and the jury is back!

I'm kicking off with Siyah 2.6.8 for 24 hours and will try and break it, or my phone, with heavy U/V and changes to GPU and Charging.

Lets see what this suckers made of! :eek:






(Wonder where my nearest Samsung Service point is. ;) )
 
Early indications here after almost six hours are that v2.6.8 is at least as good as v2.6.7. No problem with the existing UV or OC, and it sleeps like a baby. I've been resisting the urge to tweak any further due to the "if it ain't broke...." rule but my will is weakening. :)
 
This is where I get confused. Ive rooted, running the checkROM v4 (i think thats it called) via the install for dummies thread- thanks ironass!

So this whole kernel talk I dont understand. Is this siyah and the like seperate from ROMs? Do I download and install a kernel while Im on checkROM?
I apologize for the newb Q's!

Yes, kernel is a seperate thing and u can flash it no matter what rom u have.
 
Yup, I kind of figured it out as I finished posting. I flashed a couple diff kernels (download then install) through the kitchen app. I cant say that I noticed anything different though....?

I'm running CheckRom HD with Siyah 2.6.8 with some under clocking profiles and under volting. I can tell you my battery life has gone up 40-50% easy.

The kernels in the kitchen app are old. Look through this thread for links to a newer version of Siyah which does improve battery life
 
Yes, I went over to xda and downloaded the latest siyah, flashed via oden. I downloaded cpu tuner from market,I don't really understand any of this undervolting, threshold stuff at all. Also my apps seem to rearrange themselves! Wtf?!?

That has to be an issue with your ROM; the kernel doesn't directly affect the UI.

Im running the checkrom v4, I havent heard others having rearranging apps:confused:

I just re-arranged again myself, see if it happens again.
